Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Collie.
Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Thank you to Voyage Dallas For giving me this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Stephanie Collie I was born and raised in Dallas,Texas. Growing up my parents worked a lot paying bills, taking care of the house and making sure everything was taken care off. When I graduated high school I didn’t have a plan for myself I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. So I went to work and found myself just stuck in a routine. I did not want to end up doing the same thing my parents were doing for years. As much respect as I have for them they have taught me a lot in life. My mom’s strength and determination to keep going , and My father’s hustle mentality to take it one day at a time and just do my best everyday and how even the little things count. I felt I had everything I needed from them. Especially love from both and guidance. One day I decided to have the courage to just start , So I went to esthetician school to get my license. I had always been interested in the beauty/cosmetology industry and right away I knew it was what I wanted to do. Helping women feel confident in themselves while providing self care services. When I attended school I was surprised at the amount of clients that were booking with me, I really wasn’t expecting it. And at the end of the day it truly meant a lot to see family and friends being supportive of my goals. Everything started unfolding for me but truly it was God giving me the sources and tools I needed, to do what I had to do. I prayed alot during this time, and asked God to lead the path for me. I wanted change and it happened by having faith. I struggled with being indecisive it’s something I’ve struggled with my whole life. But I knew this is what I wanted from the start , I want for my future generations in my family to follow their goals and dreams. To trust themselves and take the action. And keep God first. So it has to start with me.
Today I love what I do , and everyday I work harder at perfecting my craft my work.
Being an esthetician is more than just applying creams and giving facials. It’s about transforming lives, one treatment at a time.
My days are filled with personalized care, from analyzing skin types to recommending products. Listening to my clients concerns, offering not just treatments but also education and support.
The beauty industry is ever-evolving, so continuous learning is key. I stay updated with the latest techniques and products, making sure my clients receive the best possible care. It’s a rewarding career making people feel beautiful inside and out. Being an entrepreneur has taught me that we aren’t working 9-5 now we are working everyday because this is our hustle this is our business. Although I am able to mange my schedule and have some freedom from work I find myself working more but it’s what I love. I thank God for all this. I would never say I’m “Self Made” because God did this and I took the action. I want to say Thank you to my parents with love , my boyfriend Cris who is so supportive in anything I do , my friend Maggi who reminded me to keep seeking a spiritual path. And myself for not giving up easily.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well nothing in life comes easy, There’s always ups and downs for everyone on this earth. Life is just a journey so when you’re up just know you might be down again, and when your down know you’ll be up soon. Like I said I struggle with being indecisive so trusting myself that I’m making the right decision this time in a career. Also in this field there are times it slows down and it can be very discouraging, then again it gets busy so learning to be patient has helped.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have my Esthetician business and also my charcuterie board business. Gatherings and sweets! I am proud to have both, that have been doing very well. In my esthetics I provide Facials , Brow laminations and Waxing. My Charcuterie boards I have variety of boards I provide that do well for birthdays , meetings , events. What sets me apart from others is my engagement with my clients , welcoming them and making them feel seen and heard. When you love what you do it shows! I always get told people feel they have known me for years when I talk to them and it makes me feel good.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is to be patient. Be present and enjoy the small steps you take in life because they matter. Many times we want to be in a hurry and think we have to have everything figured out. So just enjoy the journey and do your best everyday. If you know you got up to handle your business and did your best , that’s all you can do for that one day. The journey is the destination.
