Daily Inspiration: Meet Shea Irion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shea Irion.

Hi Shea, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a thing for photos. Even when I was younger, I was obsessed with having the best iPhone not for the games, not for the apps, but because I wanted the best camera I could get my hands on. Capturing moments always meant something to me.

Photography runs in my blood both of my parents have done it, so maybe it was just meant to be. But like a lot of people, I didn’t jump into it right away. For a while, I was juggling three different jobs, constantly praying and asking God to show me which direction to go. I was overwhelmed, stretched thin, and waiting for clarity.

And then one day, without even fully realizing it, I let two of those jobs go. I just knew. I leaned fully into photography and here’s the crazy part: I started making more doing what I love than I did trying to survive with three jobs.

This isn’t just a career for me. I love showing people their true selves, capturing those real, raw, beautiful moments that they may not even see in themselves. I love making people feel confident and comfortable. I love the emotion, the light, the story behind every shot.

I don’t just take photos I create memories, I build confidence, and I pour my heart into every session. And I thank God every day for guiding me here.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve always liked photos. Even growing up, I wanted the best iPhone just so I could take better pictures. Both of my parents did photography, so it’s always kind of been around me.

For a while, I was working three jobs, trying to make ends meet and hoping that if I stayed busy, clients would somehow start showing up. I kept praying for clarity and asking God which job I should stick with. Within 24 hours, I ended up quitting two of them and I didn’t even fully plan it. It just kind of happened, and I took that as my answer.

That’s when I finally had the time and energy to focus on photography, and things started clicking. I ended up making more doing what I love than I was juggling three jobs.

Starting was the hardest part. I wasn’t sure how to find clients or how to really put myself out there. But once I committed to it, things started falling into place.

Now, I get to do something I genuinely enjoy. I love showing people how good they look, capturing their real selves, and helping them feel confident. That’s what keeps me coming back to photography it just feels right.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
What sets me apart is that I don’t stick to just one photography style and honestly, I can’t. I love sharp, clean images just as much as I love storytelling photos that are a little more candid and grainy. I enjoy mixing it up depending on the vibe of the session and the people I’m working with. I also try to give back where I can. Right now, I’m working on setting aside a day specifically for families who can’t afford photos. I’m always open to fun, creative ideas, and I love when clients bring something unique to their session.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to always give and trust God. When I pray and stay faithful, He provides and He’s brought some truly amazing clients into my life.
