Today we’d like to introduce you to Chance Harris.
Hi Chance, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up drawing odd creatures on anything I could get my hands on. Textbooks, napkins at a restaurant, you name it. In my teens, I found a second creative obsession: music. I spent several years after high school touring the country with various bands before eventually returning to college to earn a BFA in graphic design.
I settled down, got married, and have worked as a product designer for over a decade. But in 2023, professional frustration and creative boredom pushed me to start something new. That’s when I founded Wolf-Boy Entertainment Group.
Wolf-Boy is a publishing company focused on tabletop games for what I call the “hardcore casual gamer”. These are people who want more than Monopoly, or Uno, but don’t have the time, money, or patience for bloated rulebooks and seven-hour playtimes. We design games that are easy to learn, quick-ish to play, and full of personality. Our current titles include Solus: Lost (Second Edition) and Pizza Faction, both available for pre-order.
For now, our focus is on tabletop games, but we plan to expand into books/comics, video games, toys, etc. !
Outside of Wolf-Boy, I still love writing music and playing shows with my brothers in Fire Season, as well as working on my solo project under the name The Nurture.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Getting to where I am today has been anything but smooth. The road’s been paved with missed opportunities, second-guessing, and squandered potential.
For a long time, I struggled with putting my ideas out into the world. Art has always been deeply personal for me, and sharing it felt like throwing my baby to the wolves. I internalized every bit of criticism, which made it difficult to stick with creative projects. It wasn’t that I lacked ideas, it was that I lacked the confidence to let them breathe in public.
That started to change when I went to design school. The critiques were brutal, but intentionally so. Our professors made sure we understood one thing early on: no matter how good your work is, someone’s going to hate it. That lesson was freeing. It helped me stop creating for approval and start creating for myself.
Eventually, I took a deep breath, threw myself fully into launching Wolf-Boy, and haven’t looked back since.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Wolf-Boy, I wear just about every hat you can think of. From operations to illustration and design to packing up orders, I do it all. But at the core, my first love has always been illustration and graphic design.
On the illustration side, I specialize in drawing silly, cartoonish creatures, heavily inspired by the offbeat animation style of shows like Rocko’s Modern Life and Ren & Stimpy. My graphic design work, however, is almost the polar opposite. I gravitate toward clean, modern aesthetics and often take influence from the Bauhaus design movement and brutalist architecture.
Somewhere between those two extremes, I’ve discovered a unique strength. I can take big, imaginative ideas and distill them down into something clear, approachable, and ready to be turned into a product.
Solus: Lost was the first title released under Wolf-Boy, and bringing it to life was one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences I’ve had. I spent months developing the mechanics, storyline, and visual direction. Since the game has a more serious tone, my usual illustration style didn’t quite fit. Instead, I collaborated with two talented artists to create the card illustrations. The first edition launched in September 2023 and completely sold out. We’re now taking pre-orders for the second edition, which is scheduled to release in August 2025.
Our second title, Pizza Faction, is also set to launch in August 2025. This project has been a different kind of experience. I’ve taken on more of a developmental and creative partnership role, working closely with the game’s designer and illustrator. When I founded Wolf-Boy, I made a promise to give the people I work with as much creative freedom as possible. I only step in when it’s absolutely necessary. I believe the best work comes from people who are trusted and given the space they need to create. Nothing kills creativity faster than someone breathing down your neck while watching the clock.
In addition to these two titles, we have several more projects in the works. Each is at a different stage of development, with planned releases in 2026. Stay tuned for more.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people who know me already know this, but I’ve been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for a little over 11 years. Recently, I also started coaching fundamentals classes a few nights a week at Jinho Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Grapevine.
