Today we’d like to introduce you to Siva Govindarajan.
Siva, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born in India, I moved to the United Kingdom at age 19 and went on to study and graduate from City of Glasgow College of Nautical Studies and Marine Mechanical Engineering in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to joining Brightway, traveled the world as a Marine Mechanical Engineer for more than a decade. I was looking for career change in order to stay with my family and looking for opportunities to serve the local community where I live. Brightway was one of the leading upcoming franchisees which caught my eye and decided to join them as a franchisee owner.
Me and my wife Chitra, has two children. We support and volunteer with organizations in the Plano/Dallas community including MTS and a regional language school. I enjoy playing tennis, biking, spending time with friends and family and rooting on the Dallas Cowboys.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s definitely not a smooth road. We complete one year by this March and it was a roller-coaster ride to begin with. As a first time business owner and new in the industry, with lot of competition around, we had real rough days. I was turned down in many networking events by my competitors who doesn’t want me to take up their referral partners. We faced many direct and indirect obstacles.
The main struggle for us was to branding my franchise since no one was familiar about it. Plus earning our referral partners trust was our biggest challenge. Me and my producer in the office worked continuously to do so and that’s how we managed to pull it off through the first year and we are looking forward to serve for man more years to come.
