Check Out Marilyn Hoyt’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marilyn Hoyt.

Hi Marilyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a disabled Army veteran and NASM-certified personal trainer, my inspiring fitness journey spans over a decade. My passion for fitness began in the Army, where I excelled in fitness tests and trained fellow soldiers. After transitioning to the civilian world and becoming a mother, I rediscovered my drive, earning certifications as a Turbo-Kick instructor, Strength Calisthenics Coach (SCC), and Certified Personal Trainer (CPT). In 2017, I was a runner-up in the Get Strong Transformation Challenge, a calisthenics-focused program, further honing my expertise. In the first year,2010, of co-founding Rock Fitness, a gym dedicated to promoting health and wellness with purpose, I battled cancer. Fueled by faith and perseverance, I emerged stronger. After 15 years in business I am proud to have coaches Josh and Amber carry forward my mission to teach that fitness is a powerful tool for a healthier life. I want to inspire clients to achieve their goals and enhance their well-being, embodying fitness with purpose.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Relocating to a new city and rebuilding my clientele was a significant challenge. Battling cancer was an even greater struggle, as it prevented me from working and fully supporting my clients. The year 2020 brought its own well-known difficulties. Finding coaches who share my values and fit the culture I’ve cultivated was tough, but I’m honored to have found Coach Josh and Coach Amber, who truly align with my vision.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Rock Fitness, our coaches create personalized workout programs tailored to each individual’s needs, while fostering a group training environment. This unique approach allows clients to connect with like-minded individuals, build community, and enjoy the benefits of a customized fitness plan.
What I’m most proud of is witnessing our clients’ transformations—seeing them stay consistent, improve their strength, and enhance their overall health. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch individuals reduce their reliance on medications and become stronger, healthier versions of themselves.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe in meeting people where they are with empathy. Everyone’s journey is unique, yet all face challenges. By guiding individuals to move their bodies, I help them clear their minds and navigate struggles, empowering them to overcome obstacles and thrive on their path.
