Conversations with Kendall Rogers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Rogers.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Kendall Rogers – Farmer, Educator, and Community Advocate

Born and raised in the Dallas area, my passion for growing things started as a kid, planting flowers alongside my grandmother, who always kept a vibrant flower bed in front of her home. That early experience sparked a lifelong love for plants and animals.

I’ve always had a deep connection with animals—at one point, I even considered becoming a veterinarian. However, farming became the perfect way to combine my two greatest passions: art and animals. Through farming, I can express creativity while working with nature.

At 19, I started my farming journey with a few chickens. Over the years, I expanded, raising cows, peacocks, hogs—you name it. Since I couldn’t have animals as a kid, I made up for it in a big way.

In 2019, I discovered my true purpose—helping my community through farming. My mission is to teach and educate others on the importance of growing and producing their own food. I believe it’s the solution to many of today’s challenges, and I’m dedicated to making a difference, one seed at a time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely wasn’t a Smooth

Having access to the finances to operate a farm is always a issue

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a farmer, educator, and community advocate based in the Dallas area. My work focuses on teaching people how to grow their own food and become more self-sufficient. Through my farm and hands-on workshops, I help individuals and families learn the skills they need to raise animals, grow produce, and build a more sustainable lifestyle.

I specialize in small-scale farming, urban homesteading, and intensive livestock management, particularly with rabbits. I also focus on companion planting and organic gardening techniques to maximize productivity while naturally managing pests.

I’m most proud of the impact my work has had on my community. Seeing people take what they’ve learned from me and apply it to their own lives—whether it’s growing their first vegetable garden, raising livestock, or simply understanding where their food comes from—is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart is my unique blend of experience, creativity, and passion. I didn’t grow up with animals or farming, but I built my knowledge from the ground up. That journey allows me to relate to beginners in a way that many lifelong farmers can’t. I also see farming as an art form—it’s not just about growing food; it’s about creating a system that works harmoniously with nature. My ability to teach in an engaging, hands-on way makes learning accessible and fun for everyone.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
By staying open, persistent, and engaged with others in the farming community, I’ve been able to build a strong network of mentors and peers who help guide me in my journey.
