Meet Christa Robey of Christa Robey Photography in Lewisville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christa Robey.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My love for photography started while I was in high school. I took a “Photography 101” course and quickly fell in love with the art. I was very busy in college so, I didn’t do much with it then but once I graduated, I began to pick it up more and more. I began my business about seven years ago in Texarkana, TX. My family and I moved to the DFW area in June of 2015 and I began my business here and love it!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
While I was in Texarkana, the road was very smooth. It was a small town and I knew a lot of people so it was easy to gain clients. When we made the transition to the DFW area it was very challenging not knowing anyone and having to start my business up from the ground again. As I was getting the word out about my business, I was seeing more clients. I am also a teacher so, I have a lot of fellow teachers who support me in my business and refer their friends and family to me as well. I love the DFW area and my family, I am so happy we made the move. The opportunities are endless here!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I specialize in weddings, families and high school seniors. I am most proud of how far that I have come. It is a hard road trying to build your own business but I believe that hard work pays off and I can finally see the benefits from it. My husband, Pat, has supported me 100% of the way and is always so encouraging. I am a people-centered photographer and I believe that sets me apart from the others. I love my clients and I want to not only be their photographer but also their friend. I always love keeping up with my brides and grooms, families and seniors.

What were you like growing up?
As a child, I always wanted to please my parents and teachers. I was definitely the rule follower. I remember when I was in third grade, a substitute made the entire class “pull our card” to the sad face and I was devastated. I laugh about it today and how trivial that was to me at the time. I was a very happy child and had a great support system at home. My parents always made me feel loved and made sure I was taken care of. My siblings and I picked on each other but we always knew we could count on the other if needed. Now, we are the best of friends! As I grew up, I had many friends and was a part of the drill team in high school. I loved dancing! It was a passion of mine and I was always practicing in my house. I also took my first photography class in high school which sparked my interest!
