Meet Lauren Che’ of Red London Photography in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Che’.

Lauren, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for photography began when I was a sophomore in college when I took my first photography film course. The art and creative space photography allows is where my interest grew. I purchased my first film camera for the course which was challenging since I couldn’t preview my images right away for making necessary adjustments to capture the perfect shot.

Over the years, I continued photography but with my smartphone. I knew there would come a day, where I would be able to make my first investment in a camera. Friends and family admired the images I took on my smartphone but I knew the quality could be so much better with a professional camera. So, at the beginning of 2017, I began saving for the initial investment in my photography equipment. At the time, I was still unsure of the perfect “starter kit” for photography, but I stepped out on faith and a few months into the new year I purchased my first Nikon D5500 camera, two new lenses, reflector kit and studio backdrops and stands. I knew this was my starter kit that would allow me to take my photography to a new level. I began with landscape and professional sporting events. I love to travel and always had my camera ready to capture creative landscape images. I also went to baseball and sporting events with the goal of perfecting my motion photography skills.

Several months later, I decided to venture away from landscape and sports photography and focus more on lifestyle and editorial photography. I was nervous, excited and ready to let my creative style takeover in shoots. My goal for every shoot is to be creative and do the unimaginable to achieve a different concept and theme.

Today, I have an MBA Degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership and started the brand Red London Photography. I aim to use my creativity and love for photography to capture compelling images that will last a lifetime!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning photography has been relatively smooth but the challenges came in post production. I’ve never taken a formal graphic design or professional image retouching course. I knew I wanted to create my own style of photography and have total control over the creative aspects of the photoshoots and have a distinct style of retouching my images during the post production process. With the help of YouTube and other informal online tutorials, I taught myself how to develop websites, how to use Photoshop and Lightroom to professionally retouch images and how to upgrade my equipment properly based on my style and niche photography.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Red London Photography – what should we know?
The inspiration behind my brand name is Red evokes beauty, energy and love; while London references one of the leading fashion and modeling countries in the world. I specialize in lifestyle photography to include newborn photography and creative individual, couples and family portraits. I am also known for working with models, agencies and businesses on creative editorial photoshoots and product photography.

As a new company with passion for the art of photography, I am most proud of the brand recognition my company has taken on. I consult with every client before the shoot to understand their vision and desires. This is where clients share their thoughts and concepts and where I can add my style and knowledge to make sure I bring the vision to life. I aim to create a creative and easygoing experience!

I believe people and businesses choose Red London Photography based on my clean, crisp and creative photography style. People see the theme and vision I create in every photoshoot and want a scenic shoot that is out of the norm and creative.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
People often mention the composition and creativity of my images and this is most important to my success. I like to naturally pose people in a way that will capture their lifestyle to bring the creativity through each capture.
