Today we’d like to introduce you to Nickira Anderson.
Hi Nickira, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Nickira Anderson — a licensed esthetician, bridal makeup artist and content creator with a passion for beauty. Growing up in a salon connected to my grandparents’ home, I was inspired by the women in my family who transformed their clients as hairstylists. Im the daughter, granddaughter, neice, and cousin of 3 generations of licensed beauty professionals. That early exposure lit a spark in me that grew into both an artistic career and a love for creative expression.
While pursuing a degree in Multimedia Journalism at Hampton University and graduating from North Carolina A&T State University, I freelanced as a makeup artist for Sephora and MAC Cosmetics, started guest posting for beauty blogs, and created content for YouTube and Instagram. My work led to hands-on experience with brands like Urban Decay, NARS, and more — all while continuing to nurture my writing skills.
Today, I offer luxury bridal makeup and skincare services in Dallas, share expert beauty tips on Instagram, and combine my industry experience with my background in journalism to create content that teaches everyday women how to do their makeup like a pro. I’m passionate about empowering others through beauty and digital storytelling.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. For years, I’ve had to choose between two career paths, utilizing my education in media and my talent as a makeup artist, while juggling both until I decided to create my own content sharing beauty tips. This helped me start my business as a makeup artist while still using my education and professional experience in digital media production. In 2020, I was also diagnosed with a rare brain condition that damaged my spine. It caused debilitating symptoms that led to me not being able to stand for long periods, so I had to stop doing makeup for about a year. For 4 years, my doctors had no explanation or a solution until I found a specialist in Maryland to treat me. I had my surgery last year and feel 100% better.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Im a makeup artist, licensed esthetician and content creator who specializes in bridal and natural glam makeup looks. I share expert tips on social media to help everyday women learn how to do their makeup like a pro. I am most proud of my journey and how I’ve persevered through many trials and tribulations and refuse to quit. I think what sets me apart from others in my industry is my professional experience working in digital media, advertising and leadership roles for beauty brands. Also, my experience as a licensed esthetician has made me a better makeup artist and has allowed me to understand skin on a deeper level. Because I’ve learned how different products affect the skin, I create the most seamless, flawless makeup applications I’ve ever done in my 15 years of artistry.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I have a 5 year old who I love very much and would love for her to follow in my footsteps, just like I did with my mom and my grandmother.
