Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Johnson.
Hi Quincy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey as a marketing operations and demand generation strategist has been shaped by adaptability, creativity, and a passion for growth. Growing up in and around Dallas, I moved around a lot, which taught me how to embrace change, stay curious, and thrive in new environments. That ability to adapt has been a constant in both my personal and professional life.
On top of nearly two decades of experience helping B2B businesses achieve their marketing goals through data-driven strategies, I’ve also been a musician for much of my life. Music has always been my creative outlet and has given me a unique perspective when it comes to problem-solving and approaching challenges with fresh ideas.
Another passion of mine is teaching. As a teacher at the University of Texas at Dallas, I have the privilege of working with the next generation of marketers and professionals. It’s incredibly rewarding to share what I’ve learned and help others navigate the ever-evolving world of data-driven marketing and strategy.
Whether I’m in the classroom, in the office, or on stage, I’ve always been committed to growth, creativity, and making an impact. It’s been quite the journey, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I’ve faced a number of challenges and at times felt down on myself for not “making it” sooner.
I had been passed over for promotions, failed out of Stephen F. Austin State University, lost a few battle of the bands where I thought it would be my “big break”, and in 2011 I ruptured my patella tendon on stage.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve worked across multiple roles, from a Digital Marketing Specialist to a Senior RevOps Consultant and now a RevOps Strategist. In these roles, I’ve worked with diverse clients, helping them achieve meaningful outcomes through strategic demand generation, channel optimization, and campaign management. I also serve as a Marketing and Social Media Lecturer at the University of Texas at Dallas, where I share my industry insights with future marketers.
I am most proud of my ability to fail fast and learn faster. I also have the ability to understand people in a meaningful way in order to activate them based on their strengths.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I am not particularly a risk taker in all facets of my life, but I believe it is necessary to take calculated risks in support of growth. I think that taking big bets on yourself is a must but I also believe that you need to be ready to put in the work associated with the risk.
