Conversations with Kiona Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiona Coleman.

Hi Kiona , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Irving, Texas, always curious about how the body worked and drawn to helping others feel better. Medicine felt like a natural fit and I became a family medicine doctor, but over time, I realized that chasing success came at the cost of my own well-being. After losing both of my parents, I hit a wall-physically, emotionally, spiritually. I knew I couldn’t keep pushing through.

Around that same time, I started noticing something in my patients too. They were dealing with more than just symptoms- they were burned out, stressed, and overwhelmed. I found myself craving deeper conversations and more holistic solutions. That’s what led me to lifestyle medicine.

Healing my own body and spirit using these tools changed my life, and I knew I had to share that with others. I created ColeMed Health & Wellness as a space to support marginalized groups including: women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ professionals in reclaiming their energy and well-being.

Today, I get to blend medicine, mindset, and soul- and help people not just survive, but truly thrive.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road, but a meaningful one.

Grief was a big part of my journey. Losing both of my parents and my younger brother left me navigating life, work, and healing all at once. And for a while, I did what a lot of high-achieving women do- I powered through. But that eventually caught up with me. I was exhausted, disconnected from my own body, and questioning what success really meant if it came at that cost.

Starting a business while working full-time as a physician was another challenge. I had the vision and the passion, but I was also dealing with burnout, self-doubt, and the constant pressure to do everything “right.” There were seasons where I had to pause, regroup, and remind myself why I started in the first place.

The road has had its detours, but each challenge shaped the heart of ColeMed. It made me more grounded, more patient, and more intentional with how I serve.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At its core, my work is about helping people heal from the inside out.

I’m a double board-certified physician in family medicine and lifestyle medicine, and I combine that clinical foundation with advanced training in wellness and menopause coaching. That means I don’t just focus on labs and prescriptions. I look at the full picture of a person’s life and help them create sustainable, meaningful change.

Through my practice, ColeMed Health & Wellness, I support women, burned-out professionals, and marginalized communities in reclaiming their health and purpose. While I still practice medicine in other settings, ColeMed is dedicated to wellness education, lifestyle coaching, and personal transformation. I offer personalized coaching through programs like Radiant Resilience for burnout recovery, Radiant Life for weight and hormone support, and Radiant Reset, which combines both. Each one is built around compassionate accountability, cultural awareness, and practical tools people can actually use.

I’m most proud of creating spaces where people feel truly seen, especially those who have felt dismissed or invisible in traditional healthcare. What sets me apart is that I bring both medical expertise and soul-centered coaching to the table. I don’t just treat symptoms. I walk with people through the deeper work of healing and transformation.

This is more than a career to me. It’s a calling. And I’m grateful every day to do this work.

Any big plans?
The future feels exciting right now, and for the first time in a long time, I’m building with intention instead of just reacting to burnout or survival mode.

I’m continuing to grow ColeMed Health & Wellness into a hub for education, coaching, and wellness experiences that center people who are often left out of mainstream health spaces. That includes expanding our signature coaching programs, developing workshops and retreats, and creating more digital content that supports healing in everyday life.

One big thing I’m looking forward to is hosting our first women’s wellness conference this fall. It will bring together powerful conversations around burnout recovery, perimenopause, lifestyle medicine, and what it means to care for yourself in a world that constantly pulls you in every direction. I’m also leaning more into speaking opportunities-sharing this message at medical conferences, corporate wellness events, LGBTQ+ events and women-centered spaces where real, honest conversations are needed.

In everything I do, I want to blend science with soul. I want to help people reconnect to their health, their joy, and their power. And I want to remind them that healing is not just possible-it’s their right.
