Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Paxton & Jen Carmichael.

Hi Rebecca Paxton & Jen Carmichael , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We met while working together at a Fortune 100 company, both deeply involved in HR, recruiting, and project management. Although successful in our corporate careers, we felt a growing desire for work that was more purposeful and something that allowed us to focus on what truly mattered. For Rebecca, that meant spending quality time raising her two young children ages 3 and 1 during their critical early years. For Jen, this journey started as a creative outlet, a way to explore a new passion while balancing the rhythms of family life with something that felt truly her own.

What started as a simple way to bring seasonal joy to friends and family quickly revealed a larger opportunity. We realized there was a real need for elevated, hassle-free porch décor in our community. Using the skills we honed in corporate life, we mapped out clear project plans, set realistic budgets, and connected with experts in design, logistics, and delivery. Within just six months, we had transformed our idea into a fully operational business.

This fall marks our first official season, and we’ve already seen strong order volume across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex and we couldn’t be more excited to continue growing and helping our community celebrate every season with warmth, charm and style.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has been somewhat smooth, largely because we share strong communication and business operations skills, coupled with a deep mutual respect for each other, qualities we honed during our corporate careers. However, balancing different schedules, especially with kids and family commitments, has been a new challenge. We’ve learned to be upfront and honest about our availability and set clear boundaries around when we can meet or work.

One of the biggest hurdles has been navigating social media and marketing. While we excel at problem-solving and operations, putting ourselves out there publicly is unfamiliar territory. Fortunately, we’re not afraid to ask for help and have been grateful for the valuable mentorship and guidance we’ve received from close friends and industry experts. That support, combined with our mutual respect and teamwork, has helped us navigate these challenges as we continue to grow.

My Front Porch is a seasonal porch styling business with a heartfelt mission: to bring joy, beauty, and a sense of welcome to every doorstep. We specialize in curated porch pumpkin packages during the fall season blending thoughtful design with seamless delivery and installation. Our goal is simple but powerful: to help homeowners create front porch moments that feel warm, inviting, and full of seasonal charm.

Your front porch is the first impression of your home, a place where hospitality begins. We believe it should reflect the heart of the people inside, and we take great pride in making that happen with every porch we style.

What truly sets us apart is our customer service, seamless execution and our purpose-driven mission. We’re two women who left the corporate 9-to-5 grind in pursuit of something more meaningful. What started as a creative leap of faith has grown into a sophisticated business that inspires us and others every day. We’re proud to show that women can carve their own path, even if the timing isn’t perfect. With passion, resourcefulness, and a willingness to start before you’re ready, your imperfect first step can lead to something beautiful.

We offer five carefully designed pumpkin packages, each with optional add-ons to suit porches of all sizes, from small stoops to grand entryways. For those who love to DIY, we offer packages with flexible and cost effective styling options. For others who prefer the full-service experience, we provide design, delivery, and professional installation. And because we believe in being intentional and purposeful at every step, we also offer pickup and removal services after the season ends partnering with local nonprofits that repurpose pumpkins to feed animals in rescue shelters. It’s a cause close to our hearts.

While fall is where our story began, we’re excited to share that we’re working to expand into additional seasons bringing the same level of care, creativity, and joy to porches throughout the year. Whether it’s winter greenery, spring florals, or summer curb appeal, we’re dreaming big and planning ahead.

Yes, we rely on a few key resources that help us stay balanced and productive both at work and in life. For work, we turn to user-friendly tools like Canva for design needs and video editing apps to create engaging social media reels—both of which make our creative process smoother and more efficient.
