Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Kael Moulton.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Moulton. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was inspired to become a chiropractor for a number of reasons but I’d have to say my mom has been one of the biggest influences. She is one of the strongest, smartest people I know. You would have never known she has struggled with autoimmune conditions for over 30 years. I saw her suffer many “spells” throughout my childhood and I wanted to do anything I could to help heal my mom. I was introduced to chiropractic when I was 27. I was 7 months pregnant with my first daughter when I experienced excruciating back pain for the first time. Searching for a drug-based alternative, I visited a chiropractor and it changed my life and my career path forever. The Doctor taught me that chiropractic got its roots in treating infectious disease and that people use to go to the chiropractor as a first line of defense for health instead of just for aches and pains. From then on, I knew this could help my mom’s health and help me raise a healthy family. That’s when I decided to become a chiropractor.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! But God does not give us more than we can handle, even though it is difficult to understand that most days. My husband and I have both made many sacrifices to build the practice we have today. We had our first baby in April 2012, got married October 2012, and moved from Nebraska to Texas in December 2012 for me to start chiropractic school February 2013. I graduated from chiropractic school in December 2016 and had two more daughters while in school within those 4 years. Our business started in our garage where my husband left a personal training job and created his own business called Moulton Kettlebell Club. This is where he taught people the benefits of moving well, taking care of their bodies, and the benefits of a healthy mind, body, and soul. As he grew in education and business, we moved from a garage to a larger space and slow health growth continued. When I completed my doctorate, we came together and converted that training rehab business into what is now Moulton Chiropractic. We continue to have big exciting changes in 2018 as we have continued to thrive and grow in our community, helping share chiropractic!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Moulton Chiropractic – what should we know?
In our practice we specialize in people. We see our practice members as whole people. They are full of life, experiences, injuries both physically and emotionally. We take all the factors that make us who we are and make sure they represent your care while you are with us.
We always get praised in how much we over deliver. We don’t just care for our patients during their appointments, we answer calls, emails, texts, host classes, post content on our social media, all sorts of great stuff to get them engaged and hands on in their care. We believe that the best care is in the hands of the patient. We do not prescribe traditional care plans which tend to scare off patients from getting the care they need. Though we do recommend what would be best to get started with, we don’t pressure anyone into a high visit paid in full plan. We also meet the members where they are in their care. Some people are ready to go deep and get years of things taken care of, while some people prefer to have a great place to drop in every now and then when the time is right.
We are most proud at our ability to work as a husband and wife and build such an amazing practice full of amazing people that we and our members are in control of. We have no business debt, no practice management company, no investors, no one to answer to except our practice members. It is because of this that we are able to evolve and adapt the business to our members needs and wants. It truly has been a major strength for us.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Quality over quantity is a mantra you will hear around our office. This has been a core value of our business since the beginning. It was S. Truett Cathy who said “Better before bigger” when they were starting to expand the ever-popular food chain, Chik-fil-a. What he meant by that is, before you focus on growth and the number of locations, let’s first make sure we make the best chicken sandwich on the market, with the best dining experience, and over the top customer service. We have taken that lesson and made sure every decision and change we make is based on delivering the best chiropractic experience, in the best possible way, with the most care we can. When you take care of your people, then your people take care of you.
