Today we’d like to introduce you to Angelica Landers.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was raised by an immigrant mother who came to the U.S. at 25, and soon after became a single mom of three in a country she barely knew. No English, money, car, job, or transportation. Her family in Mexico wanted to help, but all they could do was suggest she send us back to be raised by my grandmother and aunts. She could have given in; it would have been easier. She could have laid down, done nothing, complained about her situation, or talked about the injustice. But she didn’t. With all three kids, she held on to the hand of God and said, *“Let’s go.”* Watching her choose perseverance over surrender meant I had no excuse not to succeed.
I spent over 15 years working in healthcare—leading multimillion-dollar revenue cycle operations, driving enterprise transformation, scaling start-ups, and mergers and acquisitions strategies. I had the privilege of working with incredible teams and building innovative solutions that improved performance, reduced costs, and increased revenue for major organizations.
But I also got tired—tired of seeing talented certified professionals overlooked for “lack of experience”, education systems focused more on selling certifications than building competence, and consulting firms disconnected from the realities on the ground. And at one of the most challenging points in my life, I decided to do something about it.
That’s when I founded Alleviate. We started with nothing but a vision to transform how healthcare professionals are educated, trained, deployed, and supported. Today, Alleviate is more than a consulting firm or talent placement. Alleviate is a tech-powered workforce platform that bridges the gap between education, employment, and leadership in healthcare. Through our proprietary Aleevio platform, we connect credentialed professionals, educational schools, and healthcare organizations in one unified ecosystem. We deliver managed services for B2B clients that also serve as real-world training opportunities for learners, accelerate job readiness through simulation-based assessments and mentorship, and maintain a CEU marketplace that keeps talent compliant and competitive. Our model not only helps healthcare organizations scale with quality and compliance but also ensures professionals have the skills, experience, and advocacy to thrive in today’s and tomorrow’s healthcare.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. I didn’t come into this with a trust fund, an alumni network, or a business degree; I came in with grit, faith, and an idea I refused to let go of. In the early days, I was in every department, CEO, CFO, COO, Sales, HR, IT, all while running on coffee and willpower. Burnout was real, but without a safety net, there was no option but to keep going. And during this same time, I was helping care for my now 3-year-old non-verbal autistic nephew so that my sister could work, which meant my days started early, ended late, and were never truly “off.” On top of that, I lost both of my huskies of 10 years, just six months apart, and my best friend of over a decade to COVID, all in my first year of operations.
I faced public doubt — people questioning if I could really pull this off — and sometimes the people who said they wanted to help turned out to have predatory terms far beyond their value, even suggesting I step aside as CEO. I had clients steal employees mid-deal, competitors trying to replicate my idea, and larger players suddenly moving into my niche. Protecting my IP became a daily necessity because in this industry, there’s one accreditation group known for monopolizing the market, and I didn’t want to be bulldozed or financially suppressed.
Cash flow was a constant challenge; there was a point where I couldn’t even pay for Google Suite. Scaling the platform came with its struggles: knowing exactly what enhancements would make it great, but not having the funding to match the market’s pace. Team morale was hard to keep up during cash flow uncertainty, and while some people worked for equity, they could only do that for so long before they needed compensation, which meant I often found myself building alone again.
Through it all, I learned quickly that in business, everyone will tax you to collect, withdraw, or sometimes even deposit. I learned how to operate lean, protect my vision, and keep moving forward even when the road felt like a cliff. The challenges have been relentless, but so has my determination. And that’s why Alleviate is still here.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Alleviate is a healthcare workforce innovation company with one mission: to close the gap between education and employment. We specialize in preparing, skill-verifying, and deploying job-ready healthcare professionals through a unique blend of training, upskilling, advocacy, and real-world work opportunities. Our services span four areas: empowering credentialed professionals and upcoming entrepreneurs, partnering with educational institutions, delivering staffing solutions, and providing managed services for healthcare organizations.
We’re known for connecting all of these worlds in one platform ecosystem – Aleevio. The projects we execute for our B2B clients double as skill-building opportunities for professionals, while our Learning Partners gain access to a global referral network and a platform to showcase their CEUs and training. Employers benefit from receiving production-ready, compliance-aligned talent who can make an impact on day one. Professionals gain experience, mentorship, and advocacy that truly advance their careers.
What sets us apart is that we’re built by people who have lived the challenges we’re solving. We believe in building collaborative networks where everyone wins. Our philosophy says it best: “We don’t have competitors, we have allies.” We don’t just fill roles or sell courses , we activate talent, strengthen organizations, and make sure every stakeholder benefits from the connection.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of our authenticity. We’re bringing fresh thinking to an industry that’s overdue for modernization, while never compromising on compliance, quality, or integrity. At Alleviate, we don’t just prepare people for the job market, we transform them into confident, capable professionals and give them a place to thrive.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe I’m lucky, I’m blessed. This idea was first placed on my heart decades ago while I was working as a teacher’s assistant for a learning academy geared toward certification. I eventually joined the teaching staff and developed personal relationships with my students. Many were giving everything they had for a chance at a new life, but they still weren’t landing jobs. I proposed creating a Career Service Program to help them bridge that gap into the workforce, but the answer was no.
That “no” didn’t end the vision. I went on as an independent consultant and saw firsthand that certification alone wasn’t enough, and that no one was truly fighting to give these people a fair chance. Over the years, every “good luck” break and every “bad luck” setback, every yes, no, and reroute, has just been information, shaping and refining the mission. What others call luck, I see as God’s direction. I’m chosen for this work, and every twist in the road has been part of building Alleviate into what it is today.
