Rebecca Nietert’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We recently had the chance to connect with Rebecca Nietert and have shared our conversation below.

Rebecca, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Someone once told me that if you love what you do, it never really feels like work—and I’ve found that to be true. I lose track of time when I’m serving homeowners, whether that means providing peace of mind while they’re away for an extended period or stepping in quickly when the unexpected happens when they’re gone for a short time. For me, it’s not just about problem-solving; it’s about building lasting relationships and being someone my clients can truly count on.
As a Type A personality, I naturally immerse myself in both the smallest details and the big picture. Having owned several homes myself, I know firsthand that Murphy’s Law has a way of showing up—and being prepared makes all the difference. That drive often pulls me away from my two beloved Brittany spaniels, from supporting my hardworking husband, and from being present with my five children, who still need both my listening ear and my time.
That’s why I’m especially grateful for my daughter Elizabeth joining me as a partner. With her support and expertise, I’ve been able to reclaim moments of rest—like weekends at the lake. Those quiet times surrounded by family, water, and nature allow me to find my center again, restoring the balance that makes my work possible. In those moments, I’m reminded that fulfillment comes not just from what I pour into my work, but also from the peace I intentionally allow back into my life

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Rebecca Nietert, co-founder of LoneStar Home Watch, a certified home watch company serving North Dallas and Collin County. After years of raising six children—some with special needs—while working in real estate and alongside contractors, inspectors, and service professionals, I see firsthand how overwhelming homeownership can be, especially when life takes you away from your property. That experience inspired me to build a service rooted in trust, detail, and peace of mind.
What makes LoneStar Home Watch unique is that we’re one of only two companies in the area—and the only certified provider—offering professional visual inspections and concierge-style support for unoccupied homes in North Dallas and Collin County. We don’t just “check a box.” We build relationships with homeowners, ensuring their property is safe, maintained, and always ready for their return.
Our mission is simple: protect what matters most and turn worry into confidence. Whether it’s a vacation home, a relocation transition, or just the unpredictability of Texas weather, we’re committed to making sure clients walk back into a home that feels cared for.
Right now, I’m especially excited about expanding our referral network—working more closely with Realtors, title companies, insurance agencies, HOAs, and other professionals who share our goal of safeguarding homes and supporting homeowners. At the heart of it, LoneStar Home Watch isn’t just about houses—it’s about people, relationships, and peace of mind.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I believe bonds are built on trust and clear, realistic expectations, and at the core, they depend on personal responsibility and emotional maturity. Conflict, adversity, and chaos can appear in an instant—I’ve experienced this throughout my life—and when people fail to take responsibility for their emotions or actions, bonds can break.
What restores them is learning to love unconditionally, to tolerate what you don’t yet understand, and to build pathways toward mutual understanding. Growth comes with age and experience, and so does the wisdom to accept what cannot be controlled. When we embrace that balance—personal responsibility, empathy, and acceptance—we create the space for trust to heal, relationships to strengthen, and genuine joy to flourish.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time I gave up. When I was younger, I survived violence at the hands of those I loved, as well as profound pain inflicted by strangers. I was broken, afraid, angry, and deeply hurt when I met my husband. I needed professional therapy but didn’t even realize it. I remember feeling a complete loss of hope—on my knees in despair—because I couldn’t reach forgiveness.
I had heard others talk about forgiveness, but it felt impossible—until a local seminar helped me take the first real steps. When the shackles of unforgiveness finally began to crack, a light, a sense of clarity, and true joy washed over me. That moment allowed me to pick myself up and start living my life out loud, in a way that was far more courageous, present, and authentic than before.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is very real because I’ve learned that authenticity is non-negotiable. I also recognize that I am a kind, tolerant, and accepting person, with a wealth of talents and life experiences to share. Embracing who I truly am allows me to connect more deeply with others, contribute meaningfully, and live a life that aligns with my values.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I don’t just ‘tap dance’ at work—I pour myself fully into what I do, and that’s what makes it exciting. Helping homeowners protect their properties, solve problems before they become disasters, and feel peace of mind is incredibly rewarding. I thrive on both the details and the big picture, collaborating with inspectors, contractors, landscapers, and service providers to ensure every home is cared for as if it were my own.
What excites me most is the relationships I build along the way—earning trust, seeing relief on a client’s face, and knowing that my work allows them to step away without worry. Every day brings something new, a challenge to solve, and an opportunity to make a real difference—and that energy keeps me passionate and fully engaged.
Beyond the daily work, I’m passionate about creating a legacy. Home watch is still a new concept in Dallas, and part of my mission is educating the city on its value, importance, and peace-of-mind benefits. I want to leave a strong foundation for Elizabeth, so when I retire, she inherits not only a thriving business but also a reputation for integrity, trust, and excellence—something that will serve our community and clients for years to come.
