Reggie White shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Reggie, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
A normal day for me now is waking up at 6:50 am, waking my daughter up, and preparing her breakfast. I usually go back to my room while she eats, I pray I get myself together to get her to school. I let her pick out her outfit of the day (she’s really into her fashion at 6 years old), I do her hair, then we are out the door for school, and I typically head to the gym.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Reginald White, and I’m the proud owner of The RW Brand. We launched in 2020 with a simple but powerful idea — instead of putting negativity on clothes, which felt like the trend at the time, we wanted to spread something positive. Our mission was to honor the women who raised us, inspired us, and, in my case, the woman I helped create. That’s how the Respect Women Brand was born. Since day one, we’ve seen incredible growth — from building a loyal community to securing major partnerships, including our 2023 collaboration with the Dallas Wings. This year, our reach has expanded even further. We’ve taken the brand to events outside of Dallas (with the incredible team of Pop-Up Market), and we’ve had artists and athletes proudly wear our pieces during some of their biggest moments. Every step has brought us closer to our vision: turning respect women into a movement you can wear.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my fiancée, Taylor. Being with someone who allows you to dream gives you confidence. When you know that no matter what, even if I fail, I can come home and still have the love and support of my family. Being a small business owner in the world, you hear a lot of “No’s” and a lot of “next times”, which can mentally break you, but with the support system I have at home, I leave all meetings and opportunities with my head held high.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Believe in yourself, not fake cockiness, but really believe that you are worthy of success if you put the work in. God has always shown you favor and surrounded you with people who. love you and want to support you, so knowing that at a younger age could’ve pushed me into doing something positive a lot sooner.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think they would say my kids, the whole goal for the RW Brand is to have something set up for my kids to own one day. To give them a leg up in life, if I can, by offering them a job or their own successful company to run, and never having to work a job they hate. They mean everything to me so if I can give them an opportunity to chase their dreams without the fear of failure that would mean the world to me.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When have you had to bet the company?
Kind of recently, we got our first overseas-manufactured item that we had to pay up front and had to order a MOQ of 50-100, which was something we hadn’t done in that capacity. Our Wings collaboration was 200 items, but we were able to NET30 with our local screen printing shop. Our Respect Women camo jerseys were a real investment, but it was a vision I really wanted to see come to life. Thanks to Torrence and CJ for bringing the idea to life and ensuring we would get the product from overseas, which can be nerve-wracking for a small business. Taking the risk for something you believe in is always worth it, no matter what.
