An Inspired Chat with Dr. Elizabeth Alegre of McKinney

We recently had the chance to connect with Dr. Elizabeth Alegre and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Elizabeth, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misunderstandings about TruForm Physical Therapy and Wellness is that physical therapy is only for people recovering from surgery or a major injury. In reality, I work with active adults who have nagging aches and pains that are keeping them from exercising, working, or enjoying their lifestyle—long before they ever get to the point of needing surgery. Another misconception is that physical therapy must be done through insurance. As a cash-based practice, I can offer one-on-one, personalized sessions without the restrictions insurance companies place on care. This means patients get faster results, fewer total visits, and a plan designed specifically for their goals, not an insurance checklist. A related misconception is that imaging like X-rays or MRIs are required before starting therapy. In most cases, that isn’t necessary—between years of clinical experience and a thorough evaluation, I can get patients started on a treatment plan right away.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Elizabeth Alegre, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and the owner of TruForm Physical Therapy and Wellness in McKinney, TX. My focus is on guiding active adults out of pain and back into the activities they love—whether that’s working, exercising, or simply enjoying life—without unnecessary medical interventions or countless clinic visits. TruForm is a cash-based, one-on-one practice, meaning every session is 100% focused on the patient’s goals, not an insurance checklist. I blend advanced rehab techniques with mobility, strength training, and real-world functional movement, so my patients leave not just pain-free, but stronger and more confident in their bodies. Right now, I’m expanding my reach with in-person workshops and an online mobility course (TruForm Mobility+), helping people move better no matter where they are.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was during the height of COVID, when I realized I was just a number in the large company I worked for. Locally, I had a great boss who valued me, but at the corporate level, I felt underappreciated despite going above and beyond in my role. I was performing tasks for a corporate leader in another state whom I had never even met, and I was losing touch with the very reason I became a physical therapist—patient care. It was a wake-up call that no matter how hard I worked, I was completely replaceable in that system. That realization fueled my decision to create TruForm Physical Therapy and Wellness, where I could provide the kind of personalized, one-on-one care that truly makes a difference in people’s lives.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Quick answer—yes. Owning a business is not for the faint of heart—it’s a constant rollercoaster. Like they say, the highs are really high, and the lows are really low. There have definitely been moments when the challenges felt overwhelming and I wondered if it was all worth it. Now, working into my second year, I know there’s still a lot of work ahead to reach true stability and consistency. Despite all the exciting updates and good news I share with my clients, the behind-the-scenes reality is that it’s a hard road. But every time I see a patient return to the activities they love, it reminds me exactly why I chose this path and keeps me moving forward.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes—what you see is what you get. I’m just as passionate, direct, and invested in my patients in person as I am in the content I share publicly. The only difference is that social media or public updates tend to highlight the wins and positive moments, while behind the scenes there’s a lot of hard work, long days, and challenges that don’t always make it onto a post. But the way I care for my patients, my commitment to helping people move better, and my drive to keep growing—that’s 100% the real me.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Honestly—sweating the small stuff. The post, the reel, the exact words I used… I can overthink it all. In the moment, it can feel like every detail will make or break my business, but in reality, it’s the consistent action over years that builds impact. I know the sooner I stop overthinking and just do, the more I’ll be planting seeds that will pay off in 7–10 years.
