Kenyon Glover of Dallas on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Kenyon Glover and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Kenyon, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Wow. The first 90mins of my day pretty much consist of waking up and immediately go into prayer and Thanking God for blessing me to see another day and then I head to the gym to workout for 90 minutes and then come back home, read and study the Bible and go into a more deeper prayer time and meditation time after that before I do anything else.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Minister, Award Winning Actor/Author, a Filmmaker and a Speaker. I own Faithful and Focused Ministries and KG Films Productions. My ministry Faithful and Focused empowers people to be Faithful in who God created you to be and Focused on using the gifts and talents that He has given you to be used for His glory. KG Films Productions is a film production company that creates content for film, television and the internet that glorifies Christ and gives people hope.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents ofcourse taught me the most about hard work. My parents went to work every single day rain or shine and made sure that they were able to provide for us. We may have not gotten everything we wanted but we sure got everything we needed. We never wanted for anything. We never went hungry or went without anything we needed. They taught me that you must get out and work and work hard for what you want in life. Whether you feel like it or not, you still have to rise up and go get it and always make sure that you take care of yourself and your family. Its not about you but its about put others before you and when others are taken care of, then God will make sure that you are also taken care of and need for nothing.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been numerous times that I have actually given up. I have attempted suicide on my life on 4 different occasions and I am only still here because God spared my life all 4 attempts. I pointed a gun to my head and pulled the trigger twice and the gun jammed both times, I’ve tried to inhale carbon monoxide and fell unconscious for a long time thinking I was dead and God spoke to me and woke me up out of being unconscious, I overdosed on pills and was rushed to the hospital, was dead and the doctors got to me just in time to bring me back to life. So Yes there have been plenty of times where I have actually given up but GOD with all of his love, grace and mercy for me saved my life and the reason why I am still here and which is why I serve Him and are focused on doing His work now.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say the thing that matters to be mostly is pleasing and honoring God every day of my life. To give people in this world hope and to be able to be a positive influence in the lifes of people all over the world. It matters to me how people are doing. It matters to me that people are suffering and dying every single day because of depression and mental health. It matters to me that so many people are so lost, broken and feeling helpless and defeated. My friends know that I genuinely care for people and have compassion for people and will do everything in my power to give people hope, to inspire them, encourage them, and motivate them to keep believing in the power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to never, ever quit or lose faith.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I understand that most people don’t is that we are in a spiritual warfare. We are in a battler for our souls. There is a spiritual battle going on that we can not see unless you are in tune spiritually. Most people can not see beneath the surface because they only see what this world shows them and wants them to see. But unless you are connected to God, you start to see and understand the world from a spiritual perspective and not a worldly perspective. There is way more to it than what you can actually see on the surface but you must be able to see beneath the surface. And you can only do that by having a true relationship with God. As the Bible says, we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. So until people actually know what this means, they will continue to be blind to what is really happening in this world.
