We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gustavo Mbo Esono Obono. Check out our conversation below.
Gustavo Mbo , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
“A recent moment that made me feel proud was helping a first-time homebuyer close on their dream home after months of searching. They were nervous about the process, so I guided them step-by-step, from securing financing to negotiating the offer. At closing, they actually got emotional and thanked me for making it all feel manageable. That reminded me why I love this career being part of such a life-changing moment.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Gustavo Esono Obono, and I am a licensed Realtor proudly serving the entire state of Texas, with a primary focus on the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
Originally from Equatorial Guinea, I bring a unique global perspective to the real estate industry. My ability to speak multiple languages has been instrumental in building strong connections with a diverse range of clients, helping them feel understood, informed, and confident throughout every step of the real estate process.
I am committed to delivering exceptional service, rooted in professionalism, integrity, and personalized attention. Whether working with first-time buyers, seasoned investors, or families relocating within Texas, I strive to ensure that each client’s experience is seamless, successful, and tailored to their unique goals.
Currently, I am focused on expanding my brand, strengthening community relationships, and continuing to offer a level of service that reflects both deep market knowledge and a sincere passion for helping others achieve their real estate dreams.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The earliest and most defining moment I experienced a true sense of inner strength was the day I lost both my father and my oldest sister.
That tragedy changed the course of my life and forced me to step into a role of responsibility at a young age. In the face of that loss, I found the strength to support my family and take on the responsibility of caring for them emotionally, financially, and practically.
That experience shaped my values and influenced my decision to pursue a career in real estate. I came to understand how essential stability, security, and the meaning of “home” truly are. Real estate became more than just a profession it became a way for me to help others find peace of mind, especially during life transitions.
Today, I carry that same sense of responsibility and dedication into my work. I take great pride in serving my clients with integrity, empathy, and the same care I’ve always given my own family. Helping people find a home where they can build their future is not just my job it’s my purpose.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I believe the moment I stopped hiding my pain and began transforming it into power was when I fully accepted the responsibility I had to care for my family after losing my father and oldest sister.
Initially, the pain was overwhelming and deeply personal, but I realized that dwelling on it would not help those who depended on me. Instead, I chose to channel that grief into motivation a driving force to work harder, stay focused, and create stability not only for myself but for my loved ones.
That shift didn’t happen overnight; it was a gradual process of embracing vulnerability while developing inner strength. Using my pain as power has allowed me to connect more authentically with my clients, many of whom face their own life challenges, and to serve them with empathy, determination, and purpose.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth I believe in though not everyone agrees is that real estate is really about people, not just houses or money.
For me, it’s never been just about closing deals. It’s about understanding my clients’ lives, their dreams, and sometimes their struggles. I’ve seen firsthand how a home can be a source of security and hope, especially for those going through big changes.
Because of my own experiences, I prioritize empathy and patience over rushing transactions. I know that building trust and truly supporting people takes time, but it’s what makes the work meaningful and rewarding to me. Even if others focus on speed or numbers, I believe that the human connection is what really makes a difference.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I believe my clients would miss the genuine care and commitment I bring to every interaction.
I don’t just help people buy or sell properties I invest in understanding their unique needs and guiding them through what can be one of the most important and emotional decisions of their lives. My clients appreciate the patience, honesty, and steady support I provide, especially during challenging moments.
They would also miss the personalized approach I take being available to answer questions, navigating complex situations with calm professionalism, and always putting their best interests first. For me, real estate is about building trust and long-term relationships, and I think that’s something my clients truly value.
