Dr. JuNene K. on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Dr. JuNene K. shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

JuNene, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day start with a lot of deep breathing and intention setting at 5:30 a.m.. I practice envisioning the life that I desire and actually feel myself living it. I leave my windows open at night so the sun shines right in on my face in the morning and I have the opportunity to experience stillness before I give myself to the world.. I have a morning list of about 450 people that I send an inspiring message to every morning (even on the weekend because our emotions don’t just operate Monday-Friday). Then I get out of the bed, drink the glass of water that I stashed by my bed at night and stretch because this 46 year old body doesn’t give like it used to and it needs to be primed. lol. I make myself a cup of herbal tea and get ready for an atemporal day. That just means I am free from time constraints. I try to flow through my day..

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Dr. JuNene K., a Holistic Health Practitioner. My doctorate is in Natural Medicine and I help people get to the root of their dis-ease and discover a path of wellness. I have a private practice that offices out of The DEC Network at The Shops of Redbird. There I use 2 primary modalities, The BrainTap which is a brain entrainment device that reprograms the subconscious mind to think thoughts that better serve you. 20 minutes on a BrainTap is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep. It has really been a game changer in my practice (I’ve lost 45 pounds just BrainTapping). I also use something called an AO Solex scan which is a frequency based wellness technology. It allows me to see every cell, tissue and organ in the body that is energetically out of balance and realign it. using frequencies. I use it to detect imbalances and then use the BrainTap as my “medicine”. It’s a really phenomenal pairing. My chief objective is to help you realize that you can Be Your Own Healer not to eliminate your primary care physician but to be more knowledgeable about your own body. I then suggest the herbal teas, tinctures, sprays and supplements that help facilitate your wellness journey.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that really shaped how I see the world would definitely have to be watching my brother actively die for 10 days. I was his primary caregiver for almost 2 years trying to help restore his brain and body back to the way I had always known him as my brother. With no medical training at the time, I took great pride In the fact that he never got an infection, he didn’t have to be rushed to the hospital for anything, his skin was clear and clean and I was efficiently running a home health care business with a staff of 4 people. To watch him slowly wither away when it was time to transition was hurtful to me. I took it really personal but it taught me that I only have control of me and how I choose to respond to things. It taught me that everything happens for a reason whether I understand it, agree with it or not. I learned how to let go and let God, to allow comfort and release hurt that does not serve me. I now see the world that way. As long as I do my best, respond as the best possible version of myself and release everything else, all things will work together for my ultimate good.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power when my attempt to open a Wellness Center in 2024 failed, I got the space of my dreams, a 3,100 square foot building in Desoto, TX. I was able to imagine everything I could have ever wanted in a space, a Massage room, a BrainTap room, an Oxygen Bar, a Yoga/Movement Room, a Juice/Tea/Coffee Bar, a Classroom to teach Health and Wellness classes and a full floor of custom made products. It was a DREAM. I received a $50,000 grant from the city to help build it out and raised $65,000 in private funds but needed $50,000 more to get it done. I was denied funding 11 times and I couldn’t get a job or a consistent gig to help undergird me. I lost the space, my car was repossessed, I got evicted and I just wanted to crawl under a rock. I took a minute to regroup and created a pull out product that became my path to being my own capital. I started selling BrainTap packages and teaching people how to start their own wellness practice or just use this tool in their existed practice. I started speaking openly about my inability to get funding and how traumatizing it was to feel like a financial failure with no job and no financial backing. I was struggling but I kept showing up. The story resonated with so many. Now, there are people and organizations that want to partner with me to help me spread this double message of using your pain as power.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I believe at the heart of everything, no matter what it is, is EMOTIONS. Emotional instability is the root cause of 95% of dis-ease. How you think, you feel, how you feel, you show up. If/when those things don’t vibrate on the same frequency, enmity is created within one vessel. When we are emotional unregulated we don’t know who we are so we can’t show up as our most authentic self. It doesn’t matter who you believe in, how many healthy salads you eat per day, how hard/long you work out, or how hard you smile on the outside, if the inner you is not in alignment it will show up in the outer you. We often look at the appearance of something or what someone has garnered as a result of the outward work that they have done. However, the real shift comes when you can understand what Wayne Dyer said “Change your thoughts, change your life” If something is not working in your outer world, you have the solvent to fix it within,

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people say that I used my painful stories to help guide them to their purpose. I want them to say that at the heart of everything was my desire to just help people heal. Just because you get knocked down doesn’t mean you have to stay down, “She believed she could and she did.”
