Story & Lesson Highlights with Ario Itrez

We recently had the chance to connect with Ario Itrez and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Ario, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are actually the most important for me! I’ll wake up around 8am, say a quick prayer and hop out of bed. I try not to grab my phone within the first 30mins of me waking up. I feel when I am on my phone that early in the day, I become glued to it the rest of the day and I just don’t like that feeling because it leads me to doom scroll later on. I then will drink some warm water to wake my body up, have a quick snack and hit the gym before doing anything music related.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Yes, my name is Ario Itrez! I’m an Afro-Greek that is originally from Germany and I make RnB music!
I think a few things that are unique about me and my journey is the fact that I’m actually a late bloomer when it comes to singing! I didn’t start singing until I was 19 years old, I’m currently 26. It had always been my dream but I was too scared to go after it. I also felt like I didn’t have the “natural talent” to become a successful artist / singer and I was so wrong about that! I had a friend that is a singer and could see my desire and passion for music, she encouraged me to get a vocal coach and also having that confirmation from an actual singer made me feel more confident about starting this journey. My first coach helped me unlock my voice and I’ve just kept growing since then! With my first coach, I trained in classical music for a while where we discovered that I am a countertenor. I don’t think many people know that until they hear it for themselves.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, I’d have to say my parents and also Beyoncé from watching her documentaries and interviews!
My parents always preached about how important punctuality is and doing the job right. Don’t give half effort, always give your all. I feel like just by watching Beyoncé, she’s taught me consistency, patience and don’t settle for what you’re not satisfied with because its YOUR project! If you have the vision, you also have the ability to bring it to life! IT may be frustrating bringing it together but the end result is so rewarding. Don’t give up and don’t take no for an answer!

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Ooof, for me I think it was the fear of being perceived. For the longest, I was scared to sing in front of my vocal coach because I felt silly and as if I didn’t sound good and when I first started dropping music, I felt like the numbers reflected your talent / artistry or writing skills and that’s just not true! I think the fear of being perceived held me back for a long time growing up but as I got older, I stopped caring what others think because in order to really grow, you have to be willing to make mistakes and not care what others thinks. You might feel or look silly in the moment but I promise you that is not the final product! Keep going and forget what others might feel or think when you’re investing into yourself!

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I don’t think I’ve ever been asked this but I would say YES! I like to treat everyone the same with respect and a gentle approach because it costs nothing to be kind! When I hear peoples first impressions of me, its always the same. I come off as reserved but once approached or if I approach, I’m told that I have a very warm and comforting energy. With that being said, I don’t switch up based off who’s around. You’ll always get the same version of me anywhere!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Although I feel I am a late bloomer with this, I do feel like music is my calling! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do since I can remember. I was just too scared to admit it to myself and others so I kept that secret to myself for 19 years and would tell everyone I wanted to be a doctor which was also true! But with music, it excites me, I like the creative process of bring an experience to life, seeing others connect to your music and hearing how your music has helped them and honestly piecing a project together is so much fun. I feel so alive when I’m creating and I don’t any other career could ignite or fuel that same flame that I feel within me when I’m creating. Music is my element, I just took a while to accept my calling.
