Story & Lesson Highlights with Payton Meadows of Bishop Arts District

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Payton Meadows. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Payton, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me consists of coffee, going to the gym, guitar practice, and most importantly, time in the studio. I typically work at a restaurant in Oak Lawn 5-6 days a week and try my best to make the most of my free time. Some days are better than others, regarding my productivity and mindset, but it has been important for me to be patient with myself. As long as I keep practicing, learning, and consistently showing up, breakthroughs will occur.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Payton Meadows. I go by the stage name MILEHII [“MILE-HIGH”], and started MILEHII Records LLC. I was inspired to make music in 2020 after performing a DJ set for a college party and quickly found a passion for music entertainment. After graduating college in 2021, I was accepted into ICON Collective Music School (Online Program) based in Burbank, California. This was a school that had produced some very serious, professional, and business-minded people throughout the music world. I graduated in 2024 proudly with even more love for music. Since the beginning of 2025, I have released 5 songs and plan on more. Although it is frustrating at times, I still believe in my brand, the people around me, and my purpose to be in the music world. My brand is who I am and the logo has been used in failed businesses prior to, my music career. It has always been a logo I love and resembles me.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Friends and family have always been an important outlet for me. I am very gracious for the people around me and the support that I have received is special. I trust that I can be given honest feedback upon request and that no matter what I do in life, the people I love will stick with me through the ups and downs.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to be patient and how time should be respected. Suffering has also brought me closer to people and building relationships. I have worked with and managed a lot of hard-working, smart, and respectful people. Those are the people who get you through the times of suffering and open your eyes to how hard people work for themselves and family. We all have suffering, in some form or another, and it’s important to live with humility. My work ethic comes from seeing people who suffered and earned their success. Those who have spent years on their goals and are proud of who they are.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest freinds would say that what matters to me is my family, music, friends, food, health, and work ethic. I have spent a lot of time working on myself and continue to mold the person I want to be. Life is volatile and hard to predict, but what matters is how I control what I can control.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I never regretted trying new things. That I carried myself with humility, respect for others, and a love for bringing people together. I hope they tell stories about times that we laughed, and the times we suffered together. I want people to know that I never stopped trying to be the best version of myself, and I want people to know how important exploring the world and experiencing different cultures was to me. Lastly, I want people to know how much music meant to me and my passage throughout life. Music is a special gift to humanity and must never be ignored.
