An Inspired Chat with Michael Heathen

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michael Heathen. Check out our conversation below.

Michael, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I think integrity is the correct choice. However, I like to think that integrity is a form of energy, and acting with integrity is that energy at work. Energy is such a broad word and can definitely carry negativity. Integrity is consistent and only attached to deserving entities.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Michael Heathen of G.L.O.A.T. Entertainment. We are a DFW based artistic collective. Our focus has been music for the past decade plus but have recently begun to collect the necessary pieces to add visual arts to our repertoire. Currently, we have a private YouTube page featuring several skits that our comedy group “Sketchy Guy’s” have put together. We are working on a plan for how and when we release them.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Traveling back to integrity… I feel the easiest way to break a bond is dishonesty. Specifically when used to manipulate.

To restore those bonds is much more difficult. It involves a genuine apology. However, an apology isn’t genuine if there is no action to either correct the behavior or the damage done. That’s just more manipulation.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failure. Which I feel is nearly a universal fear. I dont care how others perceive me failing, but my own perception is what I fear. I am very critical of myself. I need to get over the fear and the critical self-nature. Ots getting better!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My parents. If there are any redeeming qualities in me, it’s from them. I learned that showing up and being there can be all we need sometimes. They ALWAYS show up. Then and now. Always there for any and all who are in need, big or small. They really are an amazing moral compass.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I dont know about a particular story, but I hope my legacy is that I was always intent on making a situation better. That I cheered for and was supportive of everyone. That I was a friend to all and that I was able to bring people together.
