Story & Lesson Highlights with Emily Dewberry

Emily Dewberry shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Emily, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What battle are you avoiding?
The battle I’m avoiding is burnout. I’m deeply passionate about what I do – everything from breathwork and meditation to Pilates and leading The Embody Edit. My business is a direct reflection of my personal growth, and because of that, I’m constantly in the flow of creation and expansion. But the truth is, I can’t just keep pushing all the time. Especially in this age of social media, where bigger brands and teams are constantly launching new products and services, it can feel like there’s an expectation to always be “on” and always be moving forward. The challenge I’m navigating right now is remembering that it’s just me running the show, and I can only do so much. I can only work with so many people, take on so much at once, and put out so many things at the same time. That’s where burnout sneaks in. I’ve had to learn to slow down and honor my energy. It’s a gift to love what you do, but it also requires deep self-awareness to know when to pause, rest, and re-center.

And that’s why The Embody Edit is so important to me. These practices: breathwork, meditation, mindful movement are what ground me in these more challenging seasons. It’s easy to assume that because I’m leading others, I’ve got everything figured out. But behind closed doors, I’m navigating the same struggles. I want to bring more attention to that, to free the stigma around burnout, and to remind others that it’s okay to pause and take care of yourself. I’m here to help people find tools to ground them, just as they help ground me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi there! I’m Emily Dewberry, the founder of The Embody Edit, a virtual wellness platform that supports people through breathwork, meditation, and low impact mindful movement like mat pilates. My mission is to make these transformative practices accessible and impactful, helping people integrate ancient wisdom into their modern lives.

I’m beyond excited about the recent launch of The Embody Edit app, which offers true access to these tools right at the palm of your hand. The app makes it easier than ever to take a true moment to pause and reconnect with yourself, no matter where you are or what time of day it is. Whether you’re in need of breathwork to reset your energy or a pilates class to move your body, the app gives you the power to ground yourself and find clarity anytime, anywhere. The new membership has been a game-changer, giving both new and existing members a variety of content to support their growth.

I’m also launching my new podcast, Breath Sessions, later this summer, where I’ll dive into breathwork, wellness, and personal growth, interviewing incredible guests who share tools to help you live an empowered life.

What makes The Embody Edit special is the seamless blend of intentional practices with practical tools for everyday life. It’s not just a wellness brand – it’s a growing community that empowers people to feel confident, grounded, and aligned in all areas of their life.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that truly shaped how I see the world wasn’t just one single instance. It was a series of moments between 2020 and 2023 that completely shifted my perspective. During this time, I immersed myself in learning – diving into 3 breathwork trainings, 2 meditation trainings, rebounder training, yoga teacher training, mat pilates certification, tarot studies, and ultimately Reiki Master training. Each mentor I worked with during this period taught me the same valuable lesson: the more I learned, the more I realized how much I didn’t know.

What I came to understand is that the world around me, and within me, is so vast. The one thing we do have control over is how we choose to show up in the present moment. Life is fleeting. The older we get, the more it feels like the days, weeks, and months fly by. This has taught me to stop the BS, the distractions and noise, and simply be in the now. Taking just a moment each day to pause, reconnect, and breathe can shift everything. And in those pauses, we unlock the incredible potential to accomplish things we never thought possible.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Okay, we’re really getting close now… What fear has held me back the most? If I’m being real, it’s probably the fear of not being enough – whether that’s not being good enough, not doing enough, or not being seen for all the hard work I pour into what I do. For so long, I put pressure on myself to meet some sort of external standard or expectation, which meant I was always striving and rarely allowing myself to just be.

But here’s the twist: I’ve learned that this fear is actually my invitation to show up fully as myself. The more I lean into my own truth, without worrying about what others think, the more I realize I’ve always been enough. The fear of not being enough is what pushes me to do the work, but it’s also the thing that can hold me back if I let it. So, I’ve learned to embrace it as part of the journey and use it as fuel to keep going.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
If you asked my closest friends what really matters to me, they’d probably say it’s connection – both with myself and with others. They’d tell you that I care deeply about helping people feel seen and supported, whether that’s through my work in breathwork, meditation, or pilates, or simply by showing up as a friend who listens and holds space. They’d also say that I value growth, personal, spiritual, and professional, and that I’m always seeking ways to evolve, even when it’s uncomfortable.

What really matters to me is authenticity. I believe in being real, even when it’s hard, because I’ve seen the power of vulnerability to heal and create deeper relationships. But honestly, my core mission comes from a place of personal experience: for so long, I didn’t feel seen or supported by anyone outside my family. I know the pain that comes with not being fully seen, and I never want anyone to feel that way. That’s why, at the heart of everything I do, is the drive to ensure that others feel valued, recognized, and held in their truth.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
What will I regret not doing? Honestly, it would be not fully stepping into my potential. I’m driven by the mission to help others transform their lives, but at times, I catch myself hesitating or holding back, whether it’s due to fear or the overwhelming nature of the journey. If I don’t push myself to go all in, whether it’s with The Embody Edit, my podcast, or any new opportunity that aligns with my values – I know I’ll look back and wish I’d taken those leaps sooner.

I also think I’d regret not prioritizing my own peace and well-being more. As I continue to grow and expand, it’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle, but I’ve learned that slowing down and nurturing my own energy is just as important as building the business. If I don’t keep that balance, I’ll regret not showing up for myself as fully as I do for others.
