Hi Tyler, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
These days a normal day for me is waking up early to beat the heat, knocking out a bunch of cars/trucks, grabbing lunch with the team, and then heading home to spend time with my family and friends! As I have grown and gotten older, I have learned to enjoy the little moments. Something as simple as taking my family out to dinner, and going to the house to just sit on the couch, talk, watch tv, etc. Just taking a moment to LIVE in the moment. These are my normal days now!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tyler Meksavanh, I am the Owner of T-Mex Automotive Detailing LLC! We’re a fully mobile and insured luxury detailing service in the Burleson and surrounding Dfw area! We focus on Interior, Exterior, Paint Corrections and Ceramic Coatings all at the comfort of your own home, apartment, office, etc! I started this as a side hustle 3 years ago and it has blown up to something i am extremely proud of and grateful for. We handle about 40-50 cars on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis plus regular clients that book one off details or once every few months!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The person who saw me clearly before I could see myself was most definitely my mom. Once I got out of high school, I felt lost, I had dreams and aspirations that were not playing out how I thought they would but my mom always so positive, saying she knows how things will play out for me as long as I stay focused in my classes I was in at the time and just work hard. There was days I would come home frustrated from work/school, some days even angry, and she would always listen to me, give me her opinion, and say “You are going to be just fine, it’s just a bad day, bigger and better things are coming. Don’t lose sight of your dreams and goals” When I think back on little moments here and there that I shared with my mom, I just know she saw something in me that I couldn’t see at the time. She still does!
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me so many things that success never could teach me. When things got hard in life, suffering showed me how strong I actually was. Suffering throws you down under and mentally it feels like you’ll never come back up, but you will. Suffering showed me the love I had from people around me, it showed me the hate I had from people around me, and it also showed me who did and didn’t stick around in the times I was down. Success in general makes me feel good, it makes anyone feel good but it didn’t help me grow in life, relationships or business like suffering did. Hard times in life make more thankful and grateful for the journey
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think all of my closest friends would say and agree that Family matters the most to me. My entire family is so close, we’ve always been that way. We are always together at each others houses, out enjoying time with each other, learning, and growing with each other. Typically, if I am not working you can find me with my family doing something! Family is #1, that’s all we have at the end of the day is each other!
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I truly believe I am doing what I was born to do. Nobody ever told me anything about the detailing industry, it was just something that kind of fell in my lap in a dream of mine and I fell in love with the industry. There’s so much to learn, do, the relationships you gain from being in this industry is truly amazing. This is something that all started with me waking up one day and saying “I’m going to start a detailing business”, it was definitely meant to be
