Today we’d like to introduce you to Chancei White.
Chancei, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Chancei, and I’m a local photographer born and raised in Dallas, Tx. I first developed a love for photography in high school, when I would borrow my dad’s old camera equipment to make goofy videos and impromptu photoshoots with friends. What started out as a playful hobby quickly grew into something more meaningful in college.
During that time, my grandmother’s health began to decline, and my visits to see her and my grandfather in Louisiana made me think deeply about life, loss, and memory. The elders often shared stories that were always paired with photographs—each image a moment frozen in time, holding more than words ever could. Seeing that connection made me realize the power of preserving memories through photos and videos.
As my grandparents grew ill, I felt called to be the one to carry their stories forward. That’s when I knew photography wasn’t just a hobby for me……it was a passion and a purpose. I still carry out this belif system today. I’m here to document memories that will soon turn into stories long after we are gone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey hasn’t been easy. I’m actively learning how to balance my full-time career in technology with my photography business. Instead of measuring my success by monetary value, I gauge it by the joy photography brings me. The smile I see on a client’s face after a photo shoot makes this job truly worthwhile.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Right now my photography blends real, candid moments with a touch of direction, creating images that feel natural but also beautifully composed. Ironically, as a Dallas native my work naturally reflects the culture of the city…..still growing, not confined to a particular mold, but instead shaping its own identity, much like I am.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a curious child always straddling the line between science and art, and constantly wanting to know the story behind everything.
