Hi Katy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
PRETTYHIGH was inspired by a desire for stylish, beautiful smokeware that would complement my wardrobe… like a piece of jewelry.
I wanted to replace my colorful, college-era pipe I had been using to something more sophisticated… something that felt more like me. I vividly remember driving down to the Camp Bowie area in Fort Worth, hoping to find a piece that was as refined and timeless as the vintage vanity jars on my dresser. I imagined a sparkling, hand-cut crystal pipe…
something with elegance and intention. But that piece didn’t exist. So, I created it.
Inspired by the timeless beauty and craftsmanship of antique collectibles, I began re-designing my own smokeware. I started with a simple wooden dugout… painting it gold and adorning it with vintage
rhinestones in an effort to make it feel pretty, like something that belonged on my vanity. That handmade piece became the very first prototype of what is now lovingly known as DOUG.
Fast forward to 2015… cannabis culture was shifting, and a new kind of industry was beginning to take shape. I was out with a friend when she noticed my handmade dugout
and asked, “Why aren’t you selling those?” That moment of insight was the spark that lit the idea, to unite vintage and new, casual and haute, simple and edgy. It became the genesis of PRETTYHIGH… a brand created to elevate smokeware into something personal, stylish, and
unapologetically beautiful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Time gifts perspective.
The creation of PRETTYHIGH, though challenging from a business perspective, unfolded effortlessly when it came to the connection and manifestation of each piece.
The first memorable obstacle came with designing the logo. While in Texas, I quickly discovered that finding a local marketing firm willing to be “associated with cannabis” was harder than expected… an obstacle I hadn’t even considered.
Then came all the layers that come with starting a new business: navigating rules and regulations, legal complexities, building a website, figuring out payment processing, and taking my designs from paper to production. But even though the tasks felt overwhelming at times, everything shifted once I set a clear intention.
“Hard” became effortless.
I began to recognize this as a spirit-guided journey… my persistence to recreate playfully, to move through the world with curiosity and intention, and to live life not just as a business, but as a way of thinking. A way of being.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
More than a product, PRETTYHIGH is a way of thinking, a way of living that makes soul happy.
I curate and rebrand notable antique pieces, but the original PRETTYHIGH collection is
entirely imagined and designed by me… often in collaboration with other artists. Everything is intentional… from the design itself to the people I choose to partner with, each bringing their own artistry to bring the vision to life. Many of the pieces are handmade in limited
quantities. Nothing is mass produced.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
For me, to create is to be happy. Creation is the doorway to my connection with Spirit… and
it’s also how I connect with people.
Each piece I make is a way of reaching out, sharing beauty, and making space for joy and
meaning. Every piece becomes a small bridge between souls.
My happiness has always come from two things: serving others and creating.
While making these beautiful pieces fulfills me creatively, it carries a deeper meaning… a reconnection to Spirit. The act of creating has brought me back to faith. It aligns me with the people and experiences I’m meant to encounter, reminding me that I’m on the right path.
PRETTYSHIGHN: a moment of non-coincidence that is perceived as an undeniably significant connection; to recognize there are no coincidences; nothing is by chance.
Service, for me, is simple. It’s walking into a room and sharing joy and goodness… allowing others to receive it in whatever way they need most. Those moments often open the door to deeper conversations and meaningful connection. It feels like a full circle: creation, service, Spirit, and joy—all flowing together.
And… the sun… the sun makes me happy too.
