Today we’d like to introduce you to Levy Do.
Hi Levy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Looking back, it feels like a lifetime ago that my family and I arrived in America. I can still vividly picture it: nine children, my parents, and a few worn-out suitcases holding everything we owned in the world. We had nothing but the clothes on our backs and a powerful, unspoken dream for a better life. The early days were lean, a constant struggle to make ends meet, but our home was never short on love or the lessons of hard work. My father, a man of immense honor, had served as a translator with the Green Beret 5th Special Forces. The pride and unwavering commitment he brought to his work, and the resilience my mother showed in raising a large family in a new country, became the blueprint for my life. They taught me that your circumstances don’t define you; your character and your work ethic do.
Growing up in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, I learned the value of small-town integrity, where a person’s word was their bond. My passion for my future profession was born from my own painful experiences. I had terrible teeth as a kid, and I remember the transformation—not just in my smile, but in my confidence—that dentistry gave me. It changed my life, and I knew I wanted to do the same for others. That drive took me to the University of Oklahoma, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology and then my Doctor of Dental Surgery.
My first steps into the profession, however, were not what I had imagined. Working in corporate dentistry, I felt a growing sense of disillusionment. It was a world of quotas and efficiency, where the human connection often felt secondary. I saw patients treated as numbers on a spreadsheet, and I knew in my heart that they deserved more. I yearned to create an environment built on trust and genuine care, a place where both my patients and my team would feel valued. I wanted to practice dentistry with integrity.
Seven years ago, I took the biggest leap of faith of my life and poured everything I had into opening my own private practice right here in Mansfield. I named it Pine Cove Dental, inspired by the feeling of peace, nature, and fun from Pine Cove Christian Camp. That was the atmosphere I wanted to create. I fell in love with this community instantly, but the path of an entrepreneur was steeper than I ever anticipated. I knew how to be a dentist, but I knew next to nothing about running a business. From marketing and human resources to navigating the unprecedented shutdown during COVID-19, every day was a new challenge. The key, I learned, was resilience—the same resilience my parents had modeled for me all those years ago.
I admit, I’m a bit of a dental nerd. I’m passionate about my profession and dedicated to lifelong learning so I can offer my patients the best care possible right here in-house. This has led me to earn a Fellowship in the International Dental Implant Association and certifications in everything from oral sedation and Invisalign to advanced surgical techniques like the All-on-4® full-arch restoration. My goal has always been simple: to provide the best dental experience a person has ever had. It’s incredibly humbling to see that commitment recognized by the community, with our practice being voted a Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite for four years running and my receiving a Texas Top 10% Dentist Award.
From the very beginning, I knew my practice had to be more than just a business; it had to be a reflection of my core values. Giving back is not an afterthought; it’s part of our DNA. It’s why I started “Smile Saturdays” to provide free dental care for those in need, why I became the dental director for Mansfield Cares, and why I served as the community service chair for the Rotary Club. Synergy, hospitality, and integrity are the pillars upon which we’ve built everything. It’s about working together, treating everyone who walks through our door like family, and always doing the right thing.
This commitment to the community led me to the Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce, where I am humbled to now serve on the Board of Directors and to be the incoming Chair. It’s an honor to help shape the future of the city that has given me so much.
Today, when I look at my life—my thriving practice, my beautiful wife, and our two precious daughters, Charlotte and Savannah—I see the culmination of my parents’ dream. Whether I’m playing guitar with the Kid’s Ministry Music team at my church or helping a patient rediscover their smile, I am filled with an immense sense of pride. Their sacrifice and hard work laid the foundation, and I am blessed to be building upon it, not just for my own family, but for the entire Mansfield community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a rewarding road, but definitely not a smooth one.
The first struggle, of course, was just my family’s beginning here in America. We came from Vietnam with nothing but a few suitcases and a dream. Those early days were a constant struggle, just learning a new country and trying to make ends meet. That experience teaches you a resilience you can’t learn anywhere else.
Then, even after I became a dentist, I hit another roadblock. I started in corporate dentistry, and honestly, I felt disillusioned. It seemed to be more about quotas and efficiency than about genuine patient care. I knew in my heart that wasn’t the way I wanted to practice.
So, I took a leap of faith and started my own practice, and that came with a whole new set of challenges. I knew how to be a dentist, but I knew next to nothing about being an entrepreneur. I had to learn everything on the fly—marketing, HR, all the things that go into running a business. And just as things were getting going, we had to navigate the COVID-19 shutdown. That was a test for everyone, and it really forced us to adapt and persevere.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth, but every one of those struggles has taught me something valuable and reinforced the work ethic my parents instilled in me from day one.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pine Cove Dental is really the culmination of my life’s journey and my professional passion. At its heart, it’s a privately-owned family dental practice. Our vision is simple: to be a practice that truly loves its patients and that our patients love coming to. We’re not about volume or quotas; we’re about building relationships based on trust and genuine care. I wanted to create an atmosphere of peace, nature, and even fun—a stark contrast to the sterile, impersonal dental offices many people are used to.
Our Specializations
While we are a comprehensive family practice and handle everything from routine cleanings to orthodontics, I’ve dedicated a significant amount of my continuing education to more complex procedures. I’m a Fellow in the International Dental Implant Association, and I have advanced training in full-arch restorations like the All-on-4® technique. I’m a bit of a ‘dental nerd’—I love the science and artistry of what I do. This passion allows us to take care of most of our patients’ needs right here in-house, from cosmetic smile makeovers to complex surgical procedures. We’re known for being able to handle a wide range of dental needs with a gentle, personal touch.
What Sets Us Apart
I believe what truly sets us apart are our core values: synergy, hospitality, and integrity. It’s not just something we put on a poster; we live it every day. Unlike the corporate dental world I started in, we prioritize the human connection. You’re more than just a set of teeth to us. Our commitment to giving back is also a huge part of who we are. It’s not a marketing tactic; it’s our DNA. Initiatives like our ‘Smile Saturdays’ for free dental care, and my work with Mansfield Cares and the Rotary Club, are central to our mission. We are a part of this community, and we have a responsibility to lift it up.
Our Brand and Promise
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that Pine Cove Dental is a true reflection of those values. When people see our name, I want them to think of a place that is trustworthy, welcoming, and deeply committed to the well-being of our community. I’m incredibly proud of the trust our patients have placed in us, which has been recognized with awards like the Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite for four years running.
What I really want your readers to know is that we’re here to give them the best dental experience they’ve ever had. We offer a full spectrum of advanced services, but more importantly, we offer a place where you’ll be treated with compassion and respect. We’re here to help you achieve not just a healthy smile, but the confidence that comes with it.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
That’s a great question. Without a doubt, what matters most to me is **honoring the legacy my parents started** and building upon it for my own family and our community here in Mansfield, all while trying to live a life that reflects God’s love.
And the ‘why’ for that really has two parts that are deeply connected.
First, it’s about **family and sacrifice**. I can never forget the image of my parents arriving in this country with nine children and nothing but a few suitcases. Their resilience and the honor my father carried—that became the blueprint for my life. Everything I do is to make sure their sacrifices were worth it. Now, as a husband and a father to my two little girls, I feel the weight and the joy of carrying that legacy forward for them.
Second, and really at the foundation of it all, is my faith. My Christian values are the ‘why’ behind everything I do. It’s about integrity and purpose, but it’s an integrity that’s rooted in trying to live a life that reflects Christ’s love. For me, that means treating every person who walks into my practice with compassion and hospitality, not just as a patient, but as a neighbor. The call to ‘love your neighbor’ is why giving back to this community through my work with the Chamber, Rotary, and Mansfield Cares isn’t just a good idea—it’s a core part of living out my faith.
So, what matters most is making sure that the life I’m building is a direct reflection of those values—family, faith, honor, and a love for the community I’m blessed to serve.”
