An Inspired Chat with Tiffany Dillard of Cedar Hill

We recently had the chance to connect with Tiffany Dillard and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Tiffany, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, a normal day for me is a blend of creativity, collaboration, and intentional quiet moments. My mornings usually begin with prayer and journaling to get centered before diving into emails and checking in with authors in various stages of the publishing process. From there, my day can include reviewing manuscripts, meeting with my team about marketing and production timelines, or coaching writers through their next steps. I also carve out time to plan content for The Author’s Corner podcast and support our growing Kingdom Scribe Community. No two days are exactly alike, but they’re all rooted in the mission of helping Christian authors bring impactful, healing stories to life.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Tiffany Dillard, and I’m the Editor in Chief of New Voice Books, a Christian publishing company dedicated to helping faith-based authors bring their God-given messages to life. We offer full-service publishing support, from editing and design to distribution and coaching, with a heart for purpose-driven storytelling.

What makes New Voice Books unique is that we’re more than a publishing company; we’re a faith-filled community. Through our Kingdom Scribe Community, our monthly Kingdom Scribe Newsletter, and our weekly Author’s Corner Podcast, we create spaces where writers feel encouraged, equipped, and seen.

My mission is to help authors not only publish powerful books, but also grow in confidence, clarity, and impact as they walk in obedience to their calling.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I had to be perfect to be accepted or successful. I thought that if I didn’t get everything just right, whether it was in school, church, or relationships, I wouldn’t be good enough. That mindset followed me for years, quietly shaping how I showed up in the world.

Now, I know that progress matters more than perfection. I’ve learned that God uses our imperfections to show His strength, and that obedience, not perfection, is what truly matters. Letting go of that pressure has allowed me to lead, create, and serve from a place of authenticity and grace, not fear.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, more than once. One moment that stands out was early on in building New Voice Books. I was pouring everything I had, time, money, energy, into this vision, but it felt like the results weren’t matching the effort. I questioned if I had misunderstood what God was calling me to do. I remember sitting in silence one night, feeling completely defeated and wondering if I should just walk away.

But in that quiet space, God reminded me why I started, to help people share stories that heal, encourage, and bring light. That reminder reignited my faith. It wasn’t about fast success; it was about faithfulness. Looking back, that breaking point was actually a turning point. It stretched me, refined me, and gave me a deeper sense of purpose.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the publishing industry tells itself is that only certain voices are marketable, that unless you have a huge following, celebrity status, or a specific platform, your story won’t sell or isn’t worth telling. That mindset silences powerful, everyday voices that have real impact.

Another lie is that publishing has to be overly complicated or gatekept. At New Voice Books, we’re breaking that narrative by empowering faith-based authors with the tools, support, and confidence to publish with excellence and integrity, without compromising their voice or their values.

Your story doesn’t have to be loud to be life-changing. It just has to be told.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, my title, and everything I owned, what would remain is my faith, my obedience to God, and the purpose He placed inside of me. Titles and platforms can shift, but my identity is rooted in being His daughter. At the core, I’m a servant, called to help others heal, grow, and walk boldly in their calling.

Even without the accolades or the “stuff,” I’d still be someone who listens deeply, loves intentionally, and believes in the power of stories to change lives. That’s who I am at my core—Tiffany, the vessel.
