Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kenna Ramos of Preston Hollow

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kenna Ramos. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Kenna, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions about Nourish Lifestyle Spa is that we’re just a place for “fluffy” spa treatments or occasional pampering. While we do create a calming and luxurious environment, our focus is deeply rooted in results, education, and long-term wellness. One of our core brand values is Authority—and that shows in the expertise, training, and intention behind everything we do.

Many first-time guests are pleasantly surprised—not only by how beautiful and welcoming our space is, but by how knowledgeable we are and how incredible they feel afterward. We often hear things like, “That was the best facial I’ve ever had,” or “My skin looks and feels amazing.” Every service is highly customized, and our team brings years of experience and a genuine passion for helping others feel their best.

Another misconception is that spa visits should only be for special occasions. At Nourish, our mission is to encourage guests to nourish their lifestyle—to make self-care a regular practice, not a rare indulgence. We believe that caring for your mind, body, and community is essential for overall wellness, and our treatments reflect that philosophy. Whether you’re tackling acne, managing stress, or simply showing up for yourself, we’re here to support your journey every step of the way.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Kenna, founder and owner of Nourish Lifestyle Spa in Dallas, Texas. As a licensed esthetician with nearly two decades of experience, I’ve worked in every corner of the spa world—from the front desk and treatment room to management and training. I created Nourish to offer something deeper: a boutique experience where expertise, care, and intention come together to support whole-person wellness.

At Nourish, we specialize in corrective skincare and therapeutic massage, with a focus on acne, hyperpigmentation, and age-related concerns. Our approach is rooted in our brand values—authority, integrity, harmony, tranquility, and connection—and our mission is to deliver results without sacrificing the healing, restorative aspects of the spa experience.

Our motto, Beauty in Balance, speaks to everything we do. We believe self-care should be a regular part of life—not a rare indulgence—and we’re here to help our guests feel confident in their skin and grounded in their well-being. Whether someone comes in for clearer skin, deep relaxation, or a fresh start, we meet them with expert care and heartfelt connection.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding our offerings and our team, while staying true to the boutique experience that makes Nourish such a trusted space for our community.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
For me, it hasn’t been just one moment—it’s been a series of realizations over time that all point back to one truth: we all need balance. I’ve always been a high-energy, go-go-go kind of person, and as I’ve grown, I’ve had to learn how to slow down and be more intentional with my time, my energy, and my peace. That search for balance—especially in the midst of anxiety and chaos—has deeply shaped not only how I live, but how I lead and how I serve others.

Opening Nourish Lifestyle Spa during the pandemic was a defining moment. The world was slowing down, people were reevaluating what mattered, and I knew it was time to create a space that reflected what I had been feeling for years: that self-care isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. I wanted to build a spa where both guests and employees felt genuinely cared for, heard, and supported—a place that helped people find Beauty in Balance, even during uncertain times.

Working in the industry for years, I saw the gaps. Guests often felt rushed or unseen, and employees didn’t feel appreciated or empowered. I knew I could do things differently. That’s why Nourish was built on values like integrity, connection, and harmony—because creating a space that honors both the client and the team is how real change happens.

I also believe wellness is deeply personal. For me, movement is my form of meditation—it’s how I listen to my thoughts and find clarity. I can’t sit still for long, but a good workout helps me feel grounded, strong, and connected to myself. That’s the kind of intentional self-care we try to help each guest discover in their own way.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
For most of my life, I’ve carried a lot of internal pressure—high energy, high expectations, and high anxiety. I always showed up strong and capable on the outside, but inside I was searching for peace, for balance. Over time, I realized that the very thing I struggled with most—feeling overwhelmed and undervalued—was also what gave me my greatest clarity and purpose.

Early in my career, I didn’t fully understand my worth. I worked hard, showed initiative, took on responsibilities far beyond my title, and still had to fight for fair pay and recognition. That experience opened my eyes. I knew I didn’t want to keep proving myself in environments where my value wasn’t acknowledged—I wanted to create the kind of environment I had always deserved. And so I did.

Opening Nourish Lifestyle Spa was my way of taking that internal struggle and transforming it into something powerful—for myself, for my team, and for our guests. I wanted to reimagine what a spa could be: a place where service providers are appreciated and fairly compensated, and where self-care is honored as a necessity—not a luxury.

Helping others look and feel amazing, seeing their lives change through the care we provide—that’s what fuels me. I stopped hiding the pressure I felt to be everything for everyone, and instead, I created a space that allows both guests and providers to simply be cared for. That shift—from pushing through pain to building with purpose—is what truly changed everything.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
I don’t rely on just one person for guidance—my ideas are shaped by a wide circle of voices, experiences, and ongoing education. I constantly seek out information from industry experts, thought leaders, and creatives across a variety of fields. From magazines like Skin Inc. and Skin Deep, to books like Profit First, to podcasts like Spa Marketing Made Easy—I believe in staying curious and constantly evolving. I also credit mentors from afar like Daniela Woerner, whose teachings have helped me build stronger systems and structure behind the scenes.

Equally important is my team. LaToya and Vanessa each bring years of experience and fresh perspectives, and I truly believe two (or three!) minds are better than one. We love to bounce ideas around, challenge each other, and co-create solutions that elevate the guest experience and our business as a whole.

And of course, our guests inspire us daily. Many of our long-time clients aren’t shy about offering thoughtful feedback or sharing ideas to make our space even better—and I love that. Nourish has grown through community, collaboration, and continuous learning, and that’s something I never take for granted.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I think I understand, on a very personal level, that self-care is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. Most people see a facial or a massage as an occasional treat, something to reward yourself with when time or money allows. But what I’ve learned—through my own experiences with anxiety, burnout, and constantly being “on”—is that true wellness requires regular nourishment, not just physical, but emotional and mental too.

I’ve also come to deeply understand the impact of presence. The way someone feels cared for, seen, and supported during a treatment can be life-changing. It’s not just about skincare or massage—it’s about connection. When you slow down, listen, and give your full attention to someone, you offer healing in a way that goes far beyond the surface.

In this industry, there’s still a misconception that what we do is light or superficial. But it takes education, empathy, and energy to hold space for people in the way we do. At Nourish, we focus on Beauty in Balance, because real beauty isn’t just about how you look—it’s about how you feel, how you live, and how well you care for yourself from the inside out.
