Vixx shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Vixx, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now a typical day varies if it’s a live day or not as I like to refer to it. I’m normally up by 10am working out and eating breakfast while replying to emails and checking my socials. Next I take a time to make sure everything around the house is caught up until about 1pm or so. I spend a few hours batch editing or filming content then. If I’m working on a new cosplay then this is also time to spend on crafting. If it’s a live day then by 7pm I’m getting ready for streaming and by 8pm we’re live! I normally stream from 8pm – 11pm. After is self care and getting ready for the next day!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Vixx, PixelVixx online. I’m a content creator, streamer, and professional cosplayer. I’ve been in the convention and cosplay scene for over a decade, and I’ve grown my brand around community driven content, streaming, and bringing characters to life via my crafting.
I focus on TTRPG content, cosplays , and a very real, unfiltered connection with my audience. I started cosplaying as a way to channel creative energy and streaming found me later. I love using my platform to educate about various topics especially self care and mental health.
You can find me on social media as PixelVixx across all channels. Would love to welcome you into the community.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
For me this really stems from my upbringing. I don’t often bring up this bit of lore up unless asked. I was adopted by my wonderful grandparents from an abusive and drug addictive family. I learned really early that the world can be a very unkind place for people and I really wanted to change that. I wanted to be able to bring joy and hope anywhere I went.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Earlier it was the fear of not fitting in. Of being seen as different. I really wish it didn’t take me so long to learn that people’s opinions shouldn’t guide my life and hold me back from doing what I love. That to fit in is to be forgettable.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Honestly? Yes and also kind of no.
The public version of me is definitely me, just turned up a bit. I’m still the chaotic, loud, dnd, anime loving girl you see on stream or at cons. That energy is real, but like most creators, I naturally show the parts of myself that are easiest to share; funny moments, big feelings, cool cosplay, and creative wins.
But behind the scenes, I’m also really soft-spoken, introspective, and sometimes anxious in general. I care a lot about my community and the work I show, which means I put a ton of heart into what I do. But I also need time to recharge and be quiet. I think that often there’s a lot of depth to people especially creators. I also am very protective my personal life and like to keep things just for myself.
So the public version of me isn’t fake it’s just one lens of a whole person. The chaos is real… I just also like naps, crying at cutscenes, and spending entire weekends in sweatpants.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I think to a degree you have to do things for yourself. I’ve always been very independent and self motivated. I want to set goals I can show myself I can keep beating, always trying to one up myself. I’m pretty sure I’ve always been this way. Especially in the creative space, you might but your heart and soul into a cosplay, a video, and event, etc, and it might flop. You have to pick up and want to go again and again and again.
