An Inspired Chat with Gregory Dawson II of Dallas

We recently had the chance to connect with Gregory Dawson II and have shared our conversation below.

Gregory, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me often involves a mix of client sessions, writing, and personal reflection. I start my mornings with mindfulness and self-care practices, then dedicate time to supervise and support my colleagues. Throughout the day, I work with clients on healing, intimacy, and holistic wellness, integrating my knowledge as a Sex Therapist and Tantra practitioner. Evenings are a time for continued learning, creative writing, or connecting with community and loved ones. Each day is an opportunity to grow, serve, and stay grounded in my purpose.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Certainly! Here’s a brief introduction you can use:

Hello, I’m Boris, a Black author, Behavioral health Therapist, Sex Therapist, and Tantra practitioner. I am passionate about creating spaces for healing, intimacy, and holistic wellness in all spaces especially within Black communities and marginalized groups. Through my writing, clinical work, and teachings, I aim to empower individuals to embrace their whole selves and cultivate deeper connections. What makes my work unique is the integration of trauma-informed care with spiritual and sensual practices, fostering a holistic approach to healing. I’m currently working on projects that explore the intersections of race, sexuality, and spirituality, with the goal of inspiring transformation, authentic self-love and appreciating the true self.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My parents, sister, members of the sexual health community, and fraternity brothers have all seen and embraced my true and authentic self. Their support and acceptance have played a crucial role in my journey toward self-discovery and confidence. Having a strong foundation of people who recognize and celebrate who I am has empowered me to live openly and authentically, both personally and professionally. Their acceptance has also inspired me to create spaces where others can feel safe to embrace their own truth and explore their own paths to healing and self-love.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Outside of my mother, my Tantra tribe has been one of the most profound sources of support and understanding in my life. I vividly remember a moment during Shadow Work when I openly discussed my struggles, mistakes, and deepest vulnerabilities. I must have cried like a newborn, feeling completely seen and held in those raw, tender spaces. That experience was one of the most transformative and powerful moments I’ve had as an adult navigating this journey of self-discovery. It taught me invaluable lessons about trusting myself, embracing my shadows, and forgiving my past mistakes. Through their unwavering presence and compassionate listening, I learned to hold myself accountable with kindness and patience. Their acceptance helped me peel back layers of shame and fear, allowing me to connect more deeply with my true self. That moment of vulnerability and connection reinforced my belief in the power of community, trust, and self-love, and continues to inspire me as I walk my path of healing, growth, and authenticity.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that the things I value most in life are my mother, Florida State football, meaningful orgasms, and sharing a good meal. My mother’s love and support have always been a cornerstone of my life, grounding me in family and resilience. As a passionate fan, I deeply enjoy the thrill and camaraderie that comes with supporting Florida State football, which brings a sense of community and school spirit. I also believe in embracing pleasure and intimacy, so meaningful orgasms are important to me as a way to connect with my body, experience joy, and celebrate life’s sensuality. Lastly, I cherish sharing a good meal—whether it’s eating a home cooked meal or dining out—with loved ones, as it’s a beautiful way to nurture relationships, indulge in the senses, and create memorable moments. These passions and priorities reflect my appreciation for connection, joy, and living authentically.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people will tell when I’m gone is that I helped others reach higher levels of spirituality, guiding them toward transformation. I aspire to have played a role in empowering individuals to create lives filled with joy, prosperity, and love—turning their inner landscapes into beautiful, sacred spaces. My greatest wish is that my life’s work continues to inspire healing, growth, and authentic connection long after I am no longer here.
