We recently had the chance to connect with Emilee Duran and have shared our conversation below.
Emilee, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Something outside of work that always brings me joy are picnics with my partner and pups! We set up our picnic blanket and enjoy the sounds of nature while our dogs roam around us. It’s always so peaceful and fun.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Emilee Duran and I am the proud owner of Beauty by Emilee. I am a 27 year old makeup artist that specializes in bridal and soft glams. Along with bringing others confidence on their special occasions, my goal is to also create a safe space in the beauty community for anyone who enjoys makeup and wants to feel good!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I owe a lot of who I am and how I view myself to my amazing mother. From a young age she always lead me to believe that the sky was the limit and that anything i wanted I could achieve. She’s believed in everything I’ve done and now I do too.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self it would be to stop over thinking and take risks. You’ll never know the outcome of things if you don’t take a leap of faith in yourself. No one’s opinion matters more about you than your own!!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that my loved ones matter the most to me. I value them so much and wouldn’t be who I am without each and every one of them. Dogs included!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I had 10 years left I would immediately stop procrastinating and do everything I want without any hesitation or delay.
