We’re looking forward to introducing you to Autii. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Autii, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
As a creative and open minded person, to me there is no particular path that is the correct path to follow. I am a wanderer, which for me is of the mind, body, and soul. Walking a path shields me from exploring and experiencing life in ways that I would never imagine. I would rather wander with intentions than walk with restrictions.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Autii and I am a local artist born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I would primarily categorize myself as a neo/soul and R&B artist. I am currently a part of an amazing community called Osentikku with a phenomenal team of creative, talented, and down to earth individuals. I come from a long line of musicians and musically inclined people which grew my love for the art of music and genuine connection.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I believed that no one would ever understand me or truly value me as the person that I really was. I believed that in order to be loved, seen, and accepted by others I had to fit myself into social norms that were accepted by the people around me. Later in life I learned that I needed to believe more in myself than what others around me expected from me. With this I learned that self love is always the best love! Now I believe that I am loved and valued than what I did when I was younger.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me resilience, acceptance, understanding, and love. Success is a reward from suffering in some cases. Suffering is a low while success is a high and to me in order to understand success you have to know how to cope, control, and manage through suffering whether it’s from your own experiences or learning from someone else’s experiences.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Definitely the importance of mental health and wellness. Mental health is such an important topic that a lot of people tend to ignore and dismiss. Especially in industries where you are present to the public eye, it is very important to consider mental health as a strong point in the context of everyday life.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop limiting and doubting myself with certain things and live the best fulfilling life that I could until my time came to an end!
