We’re looking forward to introducing you to Alexander(Alex) Sagcal. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Alexander(Alex), it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start my day with a 20–25 minute workout, then get ready for work. Once I arrive, I take a walk around the office and dealership, making a point to connect with and greet members of our team. Each department has its own unique energy, and I believe it’s important to acknowledge each one at least once a day. Thankfully, we only have four buildings and about 240 employees spread out across a mile in two cities.
After that, I review my to-do list—prepared the day before—and check the monthly and quarterly calendars. From there, I begin setting things in motion. It’s not just about what I do personally, but about what others are able to accomplish as part of the same effort.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Alex Sagcal, and I’m proud to serve as the Manager of Employee Relations and Public Relations here at Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford Carrollton. I began my journey in automotive retail back in 2012, starting in Sales, and over the years I’ve grown alongside this dynamic and people-first industry.
Today, about 60% of my role focuses on Employee Relations, where I help cultivate a culture of teamwork, pride, and positivity—a workplace where people love being here. That energy naturally extends to our customers, creating a cycle of great experiences that lead to lasting relationships and business growth.
The other 40% of my role doesn’t even feel like work—I get the privilege of representing a fantastic, family-owned dealership and auto group that partners with an industry-leading brand. But what truly makes this job meaningful is our community. We’re part of a caring, growing, and vibrant region—and serving that community is what fuels my personal “tank” every day. It’s what inspires me to give more and do more.
That feeling of connection is, to me, the real story behind this dealership and our group. Dr. Sam Pack is a servant leader in the truest sense. He’s always emphasized: “Stay active, build relationships, and take care of our customers—and our community.” That’s the heart of what we do, and it’s an honor to be part of that mission.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
In high school, I was both an academic and an athlete, balancing wrestling with years of martial arts training. Growing up in a military and science-focused family, I naturally gravitated toward both. After earning my degree in Chemistry, I was commissioned as a Navy Officer and served for four years. When I transitioned into civilian life, I entered the world of medical sales. Suddenly, I was surrounded by business professionals who challenged me to grow, evolve, and pursue my true passions. It was then I realized that the qualities that got me hired weren’t the qualities that got me promoted. ***Always work on your yourself. A new skill, a new app usage, or new application of an old app.
Today, I’m truly fortunate to work for a company that allows me to use my strengths—connecting with people, planning meaningful events, and most importantly, serving others. It rarely feels like work; it’s fun, fulfilling, and often exciting to come in each day. I get to do what I love—and that makes all the difference.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes! Several times over the years, opportunity knocks. Sometimes it’s good to see what’s behind the other door. And then there’s another time in our life where life is about your work family. Those relationships that grow over the years.
You have choose if it’s your time. What time is it for you?
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I believe in the core cultural value that all people are inherently good—or at least start out that way. I’ve also come to believe that it’s the responsibility of those in leadership to uphold and protect that belief, while also being prepared for the times when that potential isn’t fully realized.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I think I’m doing what I was born to do , serve my fellow man-woman-child- community. As a veteran, as a servant leader, as a community connector, I am serving my community.
