An Inspired Chat with Ms Janet Williams of Arlington

We recently had the chance to connect with Ms Janet Williams and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ms Janet, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Spending quality time with my beautiful, lovable and blessed grandchildren, their father and my daughter. I also enjoy writing especially poetry. My newest book, The Suffering Won’t Last Forever, is now available on Amazon. It captures insights of my unsheltered experience and how I was inspired to start Segue Living Center. My next book launch is due by end of this year and will be available on Amazon.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Janet Y. Williams born in Kansas and raised in Texas. I have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. I enjoy walking, serving families in the community, spending quality time with my grandchildren, and cooking. I was inspired to start Segue Living Center as I was going through my unsheltered experience in 2019. Segue Living Center provides support services to families residing at the Arlington Life Shelter. Additionally, we collaborate with other nonprofits of like vision to serve families mainly in Tarrant and Parker counties.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My childhood moment of being taught to love God, people, and yourself. Additionally, my parents and elder relatives led by example really shaped how I see the world.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that it’s necessary in achieving success and maintaining it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am committed to helping families with a ‘hand up’. It’s my life’s work.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people would tell others that I was rich in helping families in every way possible.
