Rosy L of Mansfield on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Rosy L and have shared our conversation below.

Rosy , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am most proud of building my self-esteem. Not many people know but I do not have much confidence in myself, but I am so proud to say that I am slowly building up my confidence and self-esteem. This comes with being surrounded by the right people who genuinely wants to see me grow and become a better version of myself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Rosy L, and I am a singer-songwriter originally from Laos and Myanmar. I am now based in Dallas, Texas. I believe what makes me unique is that every set I perform, I always make sure to share my culture with my audience. I also write songs in hopes to help people realize that they are not alone in their healing journey. As someone who never thought doing music as a career was possible, I hope to inspire other creatives to follow their dreams as well. I am working on so many music projects right now, and I cannot wait to share them all with the world!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment I met both of my best friends and their families really shaped how I see the world. The way they expressed themselves and showed love truly showed me that there is real and genuine love in this world. They truly made the world a better place for me. Due to my past experiences in life, I have a hard time trusting people and the world scares me; however, meeting them has reminded me that there is more to the world than just people who are always looking to tear other people down. I definitely see the world in a much more positive light now.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
One kind thing that I would say to my younger self is that “you deserve the world. All the bad things that happened was never your fault”

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the real me. I believe in being my authentic self. Depending on where I am, I may be a little shy at first; however, once you talk to me for a while, I become a little goofball. At the end of the day, whoever I interact with, I just want to make sure they feel loved.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I am disconnected from society, and surrounded by nature. I love nature so much, specifically mountains.
