Today we’d like to introduce you to Regina.
Hi Regina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in the mental health field with a deep desire to provide healing and support to individuals and communities who felt unseen and unheard. Becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, and later a Supervisor, gave me the opportunity not only to walk alongside clients in their healing journeys, but also to mentor the next generation of clinicians.
Over time, I realized that my vision went beyond traditional psychotherapy sessions, I wanted to create a space where people could access holistic, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care. That vision became The Balancing Place, a hybrid group practice rooted in integrative psychotherapy, inclusivity, and community impact.
My path hasn’t always been linear. I’ve had to balance the roles of therapist, mentor, CEO, and mother. Each role has shaped me and pushed me to grow as both a leader and a person. Today, I’m proud that The Balancing Place is not only serving clients but also fostering clinicians, hosting community events, and expanding into corporate wellness. My journey has really been about alignment, bringing my values, my lived experiences, and my professional mission into one place where people feel valued, supported, and empowered. You can call it my own personal life balance formula.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. In addition to lived lessons, I’ve had to lean on the lessons I learned working at every level of mental healthcare, from outpatient clinics to inpatient hospitals, and carry that perspective into building my own practice. As an entrepreneur, the path isn’t laid out for you. I’ve often had to create my own. Being the first and only business owner in my family, there wasn’t a blueprint to follow, which made the journey both formidable and empowering. Figuring out how to run a business as a solo clinician and then growing into a 10-clinician group practice has stretched me in ways I never expected, but it’s also taught me resilience, courage, and the value of persistence.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Balancing Place?
The Balancing Place is a hybrid psychotherapy group practice where we provide holistic, compassionate, and culturally sensitive mental health care. We serve individuals, families, and communities, but what truly sets us apart is the way we create space for people who often feel like they have to carry it all—first-generation successors, high-achieving professionals, and those who struggle to “take their cape off.” I personally help clients validate their need for support, even when on the outside they appear to be thriving, and guide them toward learning how to take up space for themselves through rest, care, and healing. The other clinicians within the practice assist with living life with Eating disorders, life after complex trauma, LGBTQ community, and transitions from high school to college or college to corporate life. We also help families and couples increase their healthy communication and strengthen bonds between one another.
I’m most proud of how I’ve been able to create opportunities for future clinicians, both those I supervise and those who work within my practice. Building pathways for them to grow and succeed is just as important to me as the work we do with clients.
I’m also known for my balance of directness and comfort in the therapeutic space. Clients can expect to be challenged in a way that is supportive and affirming, helping them move toward growth while feeling safe and understood. I love helping people design creative self-care routines—whether it’s solo travel, journaling at a favorite coffee shop, or catching a live music set—that fit their real lives and bring them joy.
What I want readers to know about The Balancing Place is that we are more than just a therapy practice. We are a community dedicated to helping people heal, grow, and thrive, while also investing in the next generation of mental health professionals. Our services include individual and family therapy, clinical supervision, corporate wellness workshops, and community-based events, all rooted in our mission to make mental health care accessible, authentic, and transformative.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
At The Balancing Place, we also believe in integrating the mind and body, which is why our office includes a yoga studio to encourage mindful movement alongside therapy. Being rooted in Dallas has shaped my journey in a powerful way, the city is filled with successful business owners who keep me motivated to keep growing, yet it also has intimate spaces where you can slow down, reflect, and thoroughly plan your vision. One of my favorite places to do just that is Magnolias in Harwood, a local coffee shop that has become part of my own rhythm of balance and inspiration.
A big part of my mission is to destigmatize therapy. Mental health care isn’t just for people who can’t get out of bed—it’s routine care, just like your annual checkup or dentist cleaning. We are all navigating stress at some level, and it’s okay to ask for help. I often tell my clients, “I’m just like a diary that talks back.” Many of the people I work with hold high-level positions—C-suite executives, directors, and other professionals—who use therapy as a way to cope with the demands of an elite title while still making space for their humanity.
Looking ahead, I aspire to continue expanding our corporate wellness offerings so we can bring more balance into workplaces and reach our clientele on a larger scale. Ultimately, my vision is for The Balancing Place to be the leading center for holistic and integrative psychotherapy in the DFW area, offering care that is accessible, affirming, and transformative.
