Hi Jae’ R, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Lately i’ve been finding myself gettin lost in a good movie or series on streaming services. Like, for instance, i just finished watching ‘Smoke’ on Apple Tv. Great show.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by the name Jae’R Tha Geek & I’m an artist from Dallas, Tx. I would describe the music i make as “passionate, raw emotion”. I’m gonna always give you the real me in my music because that’s one of the only places I can truly express myself freely. My brand is LFants Ent. the LF stands for “Live Free” & an LFant (elephant) is a person who lives free, lives life on their own terms & doesn’t care what anyone has to say about it. So if that describes you, consider yourself a part of the herd.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Trust. Trust breaks bonds between people. It’s hard to be restored. I’m sure there’s a way, i just ain’t figured it out yet.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
When i was young. I started taking my pain, putting it into my music & turning it into something people can relate to. I want people to hear my music and be like “he’s talkin about me. he’s talkin about what i’m going through.”
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yeah, it is. I don’t play a character. What you see is what you get with me. The person you see on screen or hear on songs is the real me. I think that’s what attracts people to what I do, It’s authentic.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
When I’m writing and/or recording a song. That’s where my self-expression is on full display & I truly feel free.
