Inspiring Conversations with Kristy Sheikh of Tarrant County Signings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Sheikh.

Hi Kristy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Born and raised in the wide-open landscapes of Southeastern Montana, Kristy Sheikh grew up in a hardworking ranch family where grit, resilience, and integrity were a way of life. These values carried her into a distinguished 10-year tenure in the United States Air Force, where she proudly served her country and became a service-connected disabled veteran.

A dedicated single mom to an incredible junior high daughter who shines as a 3-sport athlete, Kristy balances family, business, and service with determination and grace. Her attention to detail, adaptability, and calm under pressure have seamlessly transitioned into her work as a trusted business owner in the notary field.

Having lived in seven U.S. states and the countries of Japan and Kuwait, Kristy’s life has been rich with diverse experiences. She has traveled to 19 countries (and counting), which sparked her deep interest in international documentation and led her to specialize in Apostille services. Her global insight gives her a unique edge in navigating complex international requirements with clarity and confidence.

Kristy is a certified Apostille Agent, Notary Trust Delivery Agent, and Loan Signing Agent, offering professional and reliable services tailored to each client’s needs. Whether you’re dealing with international documents, estate planning, or real estate closings, she brings a high level of expertise, professionalism, and care to every signing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since starting Tarrant County Signings in 2020, there have been months with ZERO revenue! Marketing (tooting my own horn) has NEVER been my strong suite but I’ve been learning to advocate for myself in other areas of my life and that has spilled over to building my business, which has seen steady growth over the past year.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
First, I’m a MOBILE notary, meaning that I come to the client/signer. When it’s a loan package, I’ll print the documents for the client and other times the client has the paperwork already.

Second, I specialize in 3 niche areas of the notary ‘world’…1. Apostille facilitation, 2. Loan signings and 3. Notary Trust Delivery. Most people ask, “what is an Apostille?” and the most basic concept definition I give is that it’s a passport for a document to be legally used in another countty. I can facilitate the process in all 50 states and Federally but only the Secretary of State office or the US Department of State can actually apply the Apostille to the document. Since each state has different rules and timelines on Apostilles, this makes my knowledge and network of couriers that I work with invaluable to getting your documents back and ready to use in a timely manner! This is the most fun part of my offerings since I’m a world traveler myself and enjoy talking travels with those needing to get documents ready to be used in another country.

Loan signings are typically focued on real estate transactions and booked through title companies (though individuals can request me by name to their title company). Mostly, I’ve handled refinance packages and tax lien loans over the past 5 years.

Notary Trust Delivery allows the lawyers I work with the ability to focus on meeting with clients during their billable hours rather than fussing with watching folks sign the paperwork they’ve already generated. Since I’m also a mobile notary, I can meet the clients where they are confortable, their home, to get the paperwork completed and return to the lawyer. This is an invaluable service to those signers that prefer not to drive or may have mobility issues.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people have NO idea what an Apostille (sometimes called a Legalization depending on what country the documents are going to) is until they are told they need one! This is the thing I have to explain most often. I view it as educating the public one person at a time. Some scenarios you might need an Apostille would be buying property in another country, a destination wedding, studying or working in another country, expanding your businesses footprint to another country, international adoption and the list can go on.
