Today we’d like to introduce you to Roland (Alright Slash) Turner.
Hi Roland, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Alright Slash – Bounce Producer | Culture Preserver | Sound Innovator
I’m Alright Slash, a bounce music producer born and raised in New Orleans — the city that gave bounce its heartbeat. For me, this isn’t just music; it’s culture, community, and energy all rolled into one. I started out making beats for neighborhood artists, pulled in by the raw power of bounce and the way it brings people together. That spirit is still at the core of everything I create.
I specialize in custom beats, full production, and engineering that captures that unmistakable NOLA flavor. But what really sets my work apart is how I blend the roots of bounce with a fresh, modern twist — keeping it real, but always pushing it forward. My goal is to help artists make high-energy, authentic music that hits everywhere from club floors to social feeds.
My journey into music started young — like 7 years old young. I was that kid staying up late, playing with beat-making software, just trying to figure out how to make something feel right. I’ll never forget the first full track I finished. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine — and when I played it for my friends and saw how it hit them, something clicked. That’s when I knew this wasn’t just a hobby. It was a calling.
Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to learning, experimenting, and staying grounded in the culture that raised me. I’m proud of how far I’ve come — not because of accolades, but because I’ve stayed true to the sound while helping it evolve.
Alright Slash is more than a name — it’s a brand built on passion, authenticity, and that undeniable bounce energy. If you’re an artist, DJ, or brand looking to connect with the real New Orleans sound, I’m here to bring that vision to life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road — but every bump shaped me. Coming up as a music producer in New Orleans, especially in the bounce scene, meant putting in real work to be seen and heard. Nothing was handed to me. I had to earn my place — track by track, studio session by studio session.
In the beginning, I didn’t have access to high-end equipment or big-name connections. I was recording in home studios, hustling beats for local artists, and learning everything on my own — from production techniques to how to navigate the music business. There were times when I questioned if it was all going to pay off, especially when I saw others getting ahead faster with more resources or backing.
Another challenge was staying true to the culture while still evolving my sound. Bounce music is deeply rooted in New Orleans — it’s personal, it’s sacred. So I had to find the balance between honoring that foundation and still creating something fresh that could connect with new audiences, locally and beyond.
But through all of that — the late nights, the setbacks, the self-doubt — what kept me going was my love for the music and the community behind it. I believed in the sound, in the culture, and in what I had to offer. That dedication pushed me to stay consistent, to grow, and to never stop learning.
Today, when I hear my name mentioned or see people vibing to my work, I know it’s because I stayed true through the struggle. And that makes the journey worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a bounce music producer and songwriter from New Orleans, and my work is rooted in both preserving the culture and pushing it to new heights. I specialize in crafting high-energy, authentic bounce tracks — whether it’s custom beats, full song production, or engineering sessions that bring that signature NOLA sound to life.
I’ve had the honor of working with some of the city’s most respected artists, while also collaborating on projects that have reached a national audience. Whether it’s club anthems, viral records, or placements with brands and DJs outside the region, my goal has always been to keep the bounce sound alive, raw, and evolving.
What I’m most proud of is how far the music — and my role in it — has come. Starting from neighborhood studios and now seeing my work resonate beyond the city is a blessing. But more than any single accomplishment, I’m proud that I’ve been able to stay true to the culture while also making room for innovation. That balance isn’t easy, but it’s necessary.
What sets me apart is my deep connection to the roots of bounce — I’m not just a producer who makes the sound; I live it, I write it, and I carry it with intention. Every beat, every lyric is created with purpose and respect for where it came from. But I also understand how to modernize it, to make it connect with new audiences while keeping that New Orleans soul intact.
At the end of the day, I’m here for the culture — to represent it, evolve it, and make sure it gets the recognition it deserves on every level.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was full of energy — always moving, always making noise (in the best way). Music was in me from the very beginning. I was that kid banging on pots, freestyling with friends, or humming melodies I made up in my head. By the age of 7, I already knew music was more than just a hobby — it felt like home.
I was involved in everything musical: band, choir, songwriting — you name it. I played instruments, wrote lyrics, and eventually found my voice as both a bounce and rap artist. I loved the feeling of performing, but I also fell in love with the behind-the-scenes magic of creating something from scratch.
Personality-wise, I was outgoing, expressive, and always curious. If I wasn’t creating music, I was studying it — listening to old records, dissecting beats, and figuring out what made a track hit. That curiosity turned into passion, and that passion is what led me to where I am today as a producer and writer.
Looking back, I’ve always been driven by the same thing: a love for sound, for storytelling, and for the power music has to bring people together.
