Inspiring Conversations with Aaron Gauding of DFW Independent Contractor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Gauding.

Aaron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I got started back in June of 2021 accidentally in supplementing income from my original pallet business. I started with 2 moving apps then slowly got into more moving apps as I heard & worked with other moving contractors. One of the apps then slowly rolled out junk removal as an addition to their services. Looking for more junk removal work I then seen an ad on Craigslist stating, 1099 Junk Removal contractors needed in DFW. This was a remote startup company based in San Francisco, CA called Trashwarrior now called, Dimension. I had done so many jobs for them that later on I was told from a rep that I jump started the DFW region including completing the most jobs out of the state of Texas.

As my skills progressed, I ventured out into other categories of skill sets which was furniture assembly & TV Wall Mounting. I found TaskRabbit to which I began working full time & rose in the ranks over a couple of months. Realizing they had a ranking system per major city in the state, I seen I was #3 for DFW.

I then began working in the private moving industry as a driver to learn real residential & office moving.

I also learned corporate, insurance, collegiate & individual rental furniture moving from my W-2 job to further learn the rental side of the furniture industry & this is where I’m at now.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, some of the struggles are the following;

At first was knowing how to wrap & pad the furniture.

Second, knowing how to properly strap the furniture, appliances & electronics onto the pick up truck.

Third, knowing how to properly load heavy items onto the truck.

Fourth, how to be a trust worthy business owner that customers call back & refer to others.

Five & lastly how receive humble reviews.

We’ve been impressed with DFW Independent Contractor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We offer Residential & office moving of furniture including assembly.

Junk Removal

TV Mounting

General Hanging of pictures & posters

Light Handyman work

Heavy lifting

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Most risks I’ve taken is from trial & error to which for me is trying new things to see how they work.

This can stem from trying a new knot while strapping.

Stacking a hand truck to stack more items which goes the same for the truck.

Packing a truck with an unknown number of items not knowing if it will fit, however, determined to finish the job.

Risks must be taken to become better.
