Today we’d like to introduce you to Cora Moncibaiz.
Hi Cora, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
During my sophomore year at Dallas Baptist University, I began working part-time for an organization on campus that planned large-scale events for donors and friends of the university. At the time, I had no background in floral design or event coordination, but I quickly discovered a love for both. What started as a creative outlet soon grew into a deep passion for bringing people together and transforming milestone moments into experiences that were not only beautiful, but also meaningful and intentional.
I vividly remember making trips to the grocery store just to buy flowers—not for any occasion, but simply to practice creating centerpieces, bouquets, and arrangements. It didn’t take long to realize that this was more than a hobby; it was my calling.
That passion soon blossomed into a business, and in 2021, Imago Dei Events was born. Rooted in my heart for ministry and service, the company was built on the belief that every client deserves to feel valued and cared for. The name Imago Dei means “image of God,” and it serves as the foundation of my mission: to excel in the wedding and event industry by creating moments that reflect the beauty of God’s Image, while providing a professional, personal experience to couples and clients — our fellow image-bearers.
This year, Imago Dei Events proudly celebrates three years in the wedding and event industry, and I am grateful for every opportunity to serve couples by bringing their unique stories to life in ways that honor both beauty and purpose.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. When I first launched Imago Dei Events during my undergraduate years, I had no formal business background. I knew how to dream, design, and create, but the world of operations, strategy, and management was entirely new to me. That realization pushed me to pursue a Master of Business Administration in Management, where I could gain the knowledge and tools I needed to grow both as an entrepreneur and as a leader.
Another major challenge was balance. At the time, I was a full-time student while also working and building a business. There were many late nights, early mornings, and seasons where I had to sacrifice personal time to keep everything afloat. It was not easy, but it was incredibly rewarding. Those years taught me resilience, time management, and the importance of staying focused on the bigger picture. Looking back, I wouldn’t trade those struggles because they shaped me into the business owner I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of Imago Dei Events. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Imago Dei Events is a wedding and event company that specializes in both coordination and custom floral design. What makes us unique is that we don’t just focus on creating a seamless timeline or arranging beautiful flowers—we approach every wedding with the belief that each couple is made in the Imago Dei, the image of God. That means our services are deeply personal, intentionally crafted, and centered on honoring each couple’s story with excellence and care.
We are known for blending organization with artistry. On one side, we provide custom wedding binders, detailed planning meetings, and coordination that allows couples and families to be fully present on the wedding day. On the other, we design florals that reflect the couple’s personality and vision, adding beauty that feels both timeless and intentional.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is the heart behind Imago Dei Events. My goal has never been just to “do weddings,” but to serve people—to make them feel valued, seen, and at peace in one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives. Our brand reflects not just professionalism, but purpose.
I want readers to know that when they choose Imago Dei Events, they are getting more than a service—they are getting a partner who will walk with them through the process, celebrate their story, and ensure their wedding reflects not only beauty but also the depth of the commitment they’re making.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in Greenville, Texas, a small town about an hour and fifteen minutes outside of Dallas. Growing up there gave me such a deep appreciation for community, faith, and family—three things that continue to shape who I am today. I come from a close-knit family with three siblings, and we share generations of strong roots in faith. My family has always been my biggest support system, and their encouragement has been foundational in both my personal life and my business journey.
From a young age, I was drawn to creativity and connection. In high school, I found outlets for that through band, where I eventually served as drum major. I loved the challenge of leadership and the joy of working with a team to create something meaningful. I was also very outgoing and heavily involved in my community, always looking for ways to connect with and serve others.
Another special part of my story is meeting my middle school sweetheart—who is now my husband. This relationship has been a constant source of encouragement and joy throughout all the different seasons of life.
Looking back, the themes of creativity, leadership, and community have always been part of who I am. It makes sense to me now why I feel so at home in the wedding and event industry, where all of those passions come together.
