Hi Ray, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my career in financial services in 1989, and from the start, I found a deep sense of fulfillment in helping people strengthen their financial future. That passion has guided my career for more than three decades and is the reason I still love what I do every single day.

As I gained experience, I recognized that clients wanted something uncommon in the mortgage industry: competitive rates, faster closings, and an outstanding client experience. To deliver on all three, I dedicated myself to mastering every aspect of the loan process—from underwriting to processing—so I could build a business designed to serve clients with efficiency, integrity, and care.

That vision became a reality with the creation of Gulam Home Mortgage, LLC. While the name may be unique, it represents accountability, pride, and a personal promise to uphold the highest standards of service. And clients have noticed. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I hear that question, my first instinct is to smile and shake my head—because no, the road has never been smooth, and truthfully, I don’t expect it ever will be. Life, both personally and professionally, is full of challenges. For me, growth has come from learning to embrace that reality. The bumps along the way are inevitable; what matters most is how we navigate them.

Even the most accomplished people in their fields face daily obstacles, but success often comes down to pushing through in a way that looks effortless from the outside. In my own journey, some of the biggest hurdles have been navigating the volatility of the real estate market, adapting to fluctuating interest rates, launching my company without the advantage of brand recognition, and, of course, weathering the challenges that came with COVID. Each of these experiences has tested me, but they’ve also made me stronger and more resilient—and ultimately helped shape the business I run today.

In the mortgage industry, trust is everything. People are making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives, and they need to know that the person guiding them is honest, transparent, and fully invested in helping them make the right choice.

For me, integrity also means consistency—showing up every day with the same level of care, attention, and follow-through. Whether it’s a first-time buyer who needs extra guidance or a repeat client refinancing for the third time, I approach every situation with the same commitment. Over the years, I’ve learned that when clients know they can count on you—when you not only communicate clearly but deliver on your promises—that’s when real trust is built.

That trust is the reason so much of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients. It’s the foundation of everything I do, and I believe it’s the single biggest factor in both my personal and professional success.
