Meet Mike Moore of Oak Cliff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Moore.

Mike, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been making videos for over seven years now, but the real turning point came when I decided to stop hiding behind the camera and start sharing more of my own story with the world. That shift changed everything for me as a storyteller. I wear a lot of hats. I’m a filmmaker, YouTuber, amateur strongman, musician, actor, and data scientist which might sound scattered, but it all feeds into the same mission. I love helping people shape and share their stories through video. Each of these roles has taught me something different about storytelling, whether it’s the technical precision from data science, the performance aspects from acting and music, or the raw authenticity I’ve learned from the strongman community. The business has taken me to some incredible places. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with dream clients like WWE, TNA, and AEW Professional Wrestling, and I’ve had the amazing opportunity to film with legends like Ronnie Coleman. But honestly, what excites me most is working with my fitness family and all the everyday people who think their stories aren’t worth telling. That’s the heart of what I do, showing people that their story is important and they matter.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest challenge for me has been putting myself out there and sharing a part of me with the world. That can be pretty scary, especially when you’re opening up about things that matter to you. There’s always that voice in your head wondering if people will connect with what you’re putting out there.
I’m also in my 40s, and let’s be real, I’m not what typically gets attention online. The algorithm isn’t exactly designed for guys like me. There were definitely moments where I wondered if I was too late to the game or if I should just stick to staying behind the camera. But here’s what I learned, the right people eventually find you. It took time, but when those connections started happening. Those struggles taught me something important that I now share with my clients, authenticity always wins over algorithm optimization. When you’re genuine about who you are and what you bring to the table, you attract the people who truly value what you offer. And that’s so much better than trying to be something you’re not for a quick view or like.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I live in two worlds that most people think don’t belong together and that’s exactly what sets me apart. Professionally, I’m a data scientist who’s worked with major companies like Schwab, Fidelity, Nike, and many others. The world of analytics is pretty intense, it’s all about precision, algorithms, and finding patterns in massive datasets. But here’s the thing: my creativity and ability to think outside the box gives me a huge advantage in this highly mathematical world. While others are crunching numbers, I’m seeing stories in the data. What I’m most proud of? It’s not just landing those dream clients, though that’s been incredible. It’s the moment when someone realizes their story has value. Whether I’m uncovering insights in data that help a Fortune 500 company make better decisions, or helping someone find their voice on camera, it’s all about revealing what was already there but hidden. What sets me apart is that I bring analytical thinking to creative work and creative thinking to analytical work. Most people see these as opposite skills, but I’ve learned they’re incredibly complementary. Data tells stories, and stories generate data and understanding both sides makes me better at everything I do.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Being comfortable with risk is an absolutely essential part of stepping out and building something worthwhile. I feel like to start your own company or step out into a new profession, you have to be comfortable with taking on risk and being comfortable with failure. And honestly, that’s been a huge part of my journey. Another major risk was maintaining my creative pursuits while building a successful career in data science. Most people told me to pick a lane. either be the analytical guy working with companies like Schwab and Nike, or be the creative storyteller. But I believed these worlds could complement each other, even when it wasn’t the conventional path. Here’s my perspective on risk. failure is an amazing teaching tool. Every time something didn’t work out the way I planned, it helped me focus on what really matters to me and the work I actually want to do. Those failures taught me that authenticity wins over perfection.
