

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Chesnut.
Hi Taylor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have worked in corporate America, in the semiconductor field for 13 years. I knew I wanted out, and be my own boss doing work that was meaningful for people. HVAC has allowed me into a recession proof industry that helps people in need, particularly in the summer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been smooth. The Washburn employees and the 1099 contractors that I inherited left due to not wanting to go through the transition, and from disagreements with the previous owner. In my first year, I had a $20,000 job that was completed, but the customer refused to pay. To make matters worse, the customer was a lawyer who was willing to take his dispute to court if necessary. There were also the normal issues with breaking into the industry, forming relationships with distributors and contractors, and learning the ins and outs of the industry.

What are your plans for the future?
Right now, Washburn is probably the 5th or 6th largest HVAC contractor in Grapevine. My goal is to be the largest. I have been making marketing changes, and improvements such as redesigning my website to start to narrow the gap.

- $89 service trip charge for non-comfort club members
- $59 trip charge for comfort club members
