Exploring Life & Business with Tomekia Hunt of The Hunt Team of CrossCountry Mortgage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tomekia Hunt.

Hi Tomekia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a Christian woman, a proud spouse of a retired Army veteran, a mother of two incredible young men, and a dedicated homeowner. For nearly two decades, I have been blessed to serve as a Mortgage Loan Originator, and to me, this profession is more than just securing home loans, it’s my ministry.
Since 2005, I have had the honor of guiding thousands of families on their journey to homeownership. Many come to me with uncertainty, but through encouragement, strategic planning, and faith, they leave empowered with a path to success. Every closing is a testament to perseverance, faith, and the power of staying the course.
My foundation in finance began at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance in 1999. That same year, I completed the Arkansas School of Real Estate, equipping me with a deep understanding of the real estate industry. Prior to becoming a Mortgage Loan Originator, I built a strong financial background as a licensed financial advisor with First Command Financial Planning and as a property manager overseeing both residential and commercial properties. I have also held Series 6, 63, and 65 licenses, along with Life and Health Insurance credentials.
My journey into the mortgage industry began in 2005 when my first son was just a year old, and my husband was deployed. Despite the challenges, I found purpose in helping families achieve the dream of homeownership. Along the way, I have been honored to receive industry recognition, including Top Woman Originator in Scotsman Guide, Top Mortgage Producer in D Magazine, and the Five Star Mortgage Professional award. While accolades are meaningful, my true passion lies in serving families and helping my business partners grow and succeed.
Now, nearly 20 years later, my mission remains the same: to provide unwavering support, expert guidance, and faith-driven encouragement to those I serve. I am grateful for my husband, my family, and the countless individuals who have trusted me to be part of their homeownership journey. I know that God is not finished with me yet, and I am committed to following His lead as I continue to make an impact, one family at a time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all,and I’m grateful for that. Along the way, I’ve had opportunities for growth, but I’ve also faced challenges such as building a sphere of influence in new areas and relocating multiple times while supporting my husband’s service in the U.S. Army. When I first began as an entrepreneur, technology wasn’t nearly as advanced, so in many ways I’ve been working “Covid style” long before it became the norm.

I’ve always believed in working harder than most, but just as importantly, I’ve focused on maintaining relationships through genuine partnership and friendship. There were tough decisions along the way, yet my husband and I trusted God through each one, and He has always kept us. The success I’ve experienced is truly a testament to God’s goodness, the support of family, and the strength we all have when we work together.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a mortgage professional with over 20 years of experience, specializing in guiding clients through one of the most important financial decisions of their lives, homeownership. What I’m most known for is combining deep industry knowledge with a personal, relationship-driven approach. I don’t just focus on closing loans; I focus on building trust and creating long-term partnerships.

What sets me apart is my ability to meet clients where they are. Having worked “remotely” for nearly two decades long before it became the norm, I’ve built systems that keep communication clear, personal, and consistent. I understand the challenges that come with transition, whether it’s relocating with the military, moving across states, or stepping into the housing market for the first time. That’s why I’ve built my business around accessibility, education, and care.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that my clients see me not only as their loan officer but also as a trusted partner and friend. My brand stands for integrity, faith, and resilience, and for creating an experience where clients feel supported from start to finish.

I want readers to know that my services go beyond a transaction. I’m here to provide solutions, build relationships, and walk alongside families and investors as they create stability, wealth, and lasting legacies through real estate.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me by reaching out when they’re ready to buy, refinance, or invest in real estate. I specialize in creating mortgage solutions that fit unique goals. Realtors and investors often collaborate with me because I bring consistency, clear communication, and a true partnership mindset to every transaction.

Beyond business, I welcome opportunities to connect with community organizations, military families, and professionals who share a passion for helping others build financial stability and generational wealth.

The best way to support me is by referring clients who value integrity and personal service, or by simply sharing my name with someone who needs guidance in today’s market. Every introduction and collaboration means the world because it allows me to continue serving families and growing trusted relationships.
