An Inspired Chat with Chrisshele Griffin of Irving

We recently had the chance to connect with Chrisshele Griffin and have shared our conversation below.

Chrisshele, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’ve always been the kind of person who’s more comfortable behind the scenes, making sure everything runs smoothly while everyone else takes the spotlight. My career as an administrative assistant has really shaped that, I’ve always loved taking care of the little details that most people overlook.

But now, with MsChriss BAKES growing, I’m being called to step out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Whether it’s interviews, articles, or even speaking on camera, it’s a whole new world for me. Honestly, it’s still scary! I’m naturally shy, so being the center of attention doesn’t come easy.

At the same time, I know that sharing my story and passion is part of what helps people connect with my business. So even though it’s uncomfortable, I’m learning to embrace these moments, knowing they’re helping me and MsChriss BAKES grow in ways I never imagined.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Chrisshele Griffin, the baker and heart behind MsChriss BAKES. By day, I spend my time working as an administrative assistant, which has taught me the importance of details and organization. By night, and really anytime I can, I pour that same attention to detail into my passion for baking.

MsChriss BAKES started as a way to share my love for homemade desserts with family and friends and it’s grown into a brand built on comfort, connection and community. Every treat I make carries a little bit of nostalgia, like my popular Banana Pudding Brownies or my seasonal Teacakes, that reminds people of home, family gatherings and joyful moments. What makes MsChriss BAKES special is the personal touch and that it’s not just about sweets; it’s about creating experiences that bring people together. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my reach through farmers markets and pop-up events while working on long-term plans to grow into a household name.

At its core, MsChriss BAKES is about spreading happiness, one dessert at a time and I’m so excited to keep sharing that with the world.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I didn’t see myself as someone who could be great at business or even as the go-to person for desserts. I loved baking then and even more so now, but I saw it more as a fun hobby than something that could grow into a brand or a business that people truly love and rely on. Honestly, I didn’t think I could be this: a business owner, a creator and someone whose work brings a smile to others.

It may sound cliché, but I genuinely didn’t believe I could become all that I am now. Over time, through faith, hard work and the support of my family and friends, I’ve learned that I am capable and that my dreams aren’t too big; they were just waiting for me to step into them!

Now, every brownie, cake and dessert I make through MsChriss BAKES is a reflection of that journey. It’s my way of showing up fully, sharing my passion and inspiring others to believe in the possibility of their own dreams, just like I’ve learned to believe in mine.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to love herself exactly as she is and never let anyone else’s opinions shake that. I’d remind her that she is talented, capable and that even when it doesn’t feel like it, the people around her are proud of her. Most importantly, I’d tell her to hold on to her dreams and never give up because the persistence, faith and heart she’s building now will take her to places she can’t even imagine yet.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I differentiate between the two by looking at purpose and impact. Fads are exciting in the moment, they catch attention and get people talking, but they often lack staying power because they don’t always connect with your needs or values. Foundational shifts, on the other hand, align with enduring desires and have a ripple effect that lasts over time. The shifts can spark new ideas every day, month or year.

For example, a trendy flavor might be popular for a season, but what really matters and what keeps people coming back, is quality, care and the emotional connection a dessert creates. With MsChriss BAKES, I focus on creating treats that are timeless in taste and experience, while also staying mindful of emerging trends that complement our brand, rather than chasing every fleeting craze.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who cared deeply, smiled often, worked hard and always showed up with love. I want them to say that I made people feel seen, valued and happy; whether it was through a thoughtful gesture, lending a hand or even sharing a dessert that brightened their day.

I hope they remember MsChriss BAKES not just for the treats, but for the joy and connection those treats created. More than anything, I want people to say that I lived fully, pursued my passions, and inspired others to believe in themselves, even when it was scary or hard. That I left a legacy of love, creativity and resilience, and that I made life a little sweeter for everyone I could!
