Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Cribb.
Hi Kim, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Founded in 2020, So Sweet, So Savory began as a way to bring comfort, joy, and connection during uncertain times.
My path to becoming a chef didn’t start as a career goal, honestly. I just genuinely love food, flavor combinations, and feeding folk’s souls…the fact that people are willing to pay for it? That’s just the bonus, chile!
When I lost my job in May 2025, I realized it was time to turn my passion into my purpose full-time. Bank on me, the same way I banked on these companies time and time again. What started with intimate gatherings like graduations and engagement parties has now grown into a full-service catering company—with a sister meal prep brand, S.H.E. Meals.
I’m a proud Mississippi Delta native. Growing up, my mother’s military career took our family across the country, exposing me to diverse cultures, spices, and cuisines. Visiting my father on the East Coast expanded my palate even more—African, Latin, and Asian flavors that reimagine traditional soul food with bold, global twists.
But it wasn’t until I moved in with my grandmother, Cassandra, that my true love for cooking really took root. I grew up surrounded by “chefs”: working the register in the family-owned restaurant that served homemade icebox lemon pies, learning from my grandmother how to chuck peas and clean greens, and watching uncles and grandfathers who to THIS DAY make the best rib tips and deep-fried turkeys my mouth has ever tasted. That’s where I learned the number one rule—great meals start with one thing: flavor first, always.
Today, I strive to keep my family’s soulful recipes alive with a twist. Southern Fusion Cuisine is what I like to call it. I’ve always been the host in my family—the health and fitness junkie—tweaking the recipes we know and love so we can keep living long, youthful lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I think it could be smooth—if I’d just get out of my own head and my own way. I tend to overanalyze and juggle 50 million things at once, which means a lot of the visions I’ve had for this company could’ve already been executed. But what they say is true: it’s all about God’s timing. So for me, the road isn’t something I’ve “arrived” at—it’s a path I’m still taking daily with this business.
My biggest challenge has been social media. I’m such a people person that I thrive in face-to-face connections—laughing with clients, sharing a plate, swapping stories. Learning how to show up online has been a whole new journey. People don’t just want to know that I make good food; they want to know me. They want to see the family behind the flavors and feel the love and fellowship that drives everything I do.
That’s where I’m growing. I’m learning to let people in on more than just the plate—to share the stories, the roots, and the “why” behind the recipes. And honestly, that’s also where the company shines. People are always looking for fresh ideas to keep their palates and minds excited. We deliver that by doing bold flavor, by doing fusion, while still staying true to the Southern dishes we know and love.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So Sweet, So Savory keeps me busy with all kinds of gigs—baby showers, family gatherings, watch parties, graduations, drop-off catering, and private chef services are our specialties. I love taking someone’s vision and bringing it to life with beautiful tablescapes, custom menus that are strategically thought out, and flavors that deliver a true wow factor.
When we’re not handling major events, my focus shifts to our sister company, S.H.E. Meals, where we craft macro-conscious, flavor-fusion meals. We serve young professionals, families, seniors, and moms-to-be with meals that are balanced but never boring. Think: high-protein, dairy-free mac and cheese with hot honey chicken and smoked turkey collards, sweet potato and kale breakfast hash, or apple pie overnight oats. At the end of the day, we do flavor.
What I’m most proud of is staying true to what I know. I’m not some trendy social media caterer—I’m like the best foodie friend you didn’t know you needed. What sets me apart is the bond I build with my clients. They’re not just customers to me; they become family. When I cook for someone, I’m not just feeding a guest list—I’m feeding someone’s mom, dad, cousin, or uncle. I treat them the same way I would treat my own family, and that love shows up in every dish.
What’s next?
You’d probably expect me to say, “I want to open a restaurant, a brick-and-mortar, blah blah blah.” But nope—LOL! I don’t want that. Not a restaurant, not a food truck, none of that.
I love my life, my family, and my kids too much to miss out on being present. I enjoy knowing my clients by name and learning their life stories. That’s the beauty of how I run So Sweet, So Savory—I get to stay connected and in the moment. So my future plans aren’t about a big flashy building; they’re about expanding my client list and continuing to do what I love: connecting, engaging, and building lifelong relationships through food and fellowship. You want So Sweet, So Savory? Book me for your next get-together—in the house, LOL.
On the S.H.E. Meals side, we just launched our online meal ordering system, which means we’re now expanding beyond just North Fort Worth. Our goal is to get these healthy, forward-thinking meals into health and fitness facilities all across DFW soon.
