I am very active in my local Church, First Baptist Church Garland, singing in the orchestra, playing clarinet in the orchestra, and providing administrative support for the Jack E Schmid Institute.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is always full of challenges, all my accomplishments through the years have come with challenges that made the success that much sweeter. As a woman in IT in the 80’s I dealt with less respect, lower pay and less opportunity than my male counterparts. However, I was determined to forge ahead. I worked my way up the ranks to managing a team of 13 Project managers, from there I moved into a new arena where I taught and coaches individuals, teams and leaders in the ways of agility and various IT frameworks that partnered with agility. I became a consultant and helped multiple companies in the US and abroad improve their IT execution, process and delivery. I finished my corporate career as a AVP at a local Finance company. I have always wanted to own my own business. After back surgery in 2023 and neck surgery in 2024, I decided it was now or never. As soon as I could after neck surgery I started real estate school. I finished my classes in 6 months and passed my license test in October 2024. Woohoo, I am on my way! Next I interviewed several brokerages and found Keller Williams. Real estate is a hard business. The world is changing and the old techniques are not as effective as they once were. I hired a coach to teach me how to leverage and market on the internet and social media. It can be overwhelming at times. So much to know, more to learn, market news scaring folks. And of course the cost is not cheap if you want to do it right, which is my goal. I have had the privilege of helping nine families in various real estate endeavors and each one was exciting, nerve shaking, and rewarding. As time goes on my goal is to help many many more families accomplish their dream in real estate, whether that is renting, owning their first home, up-sizing, down-sizing and everything in between.

As you know, we’re big fans of Keller Williams. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I chose Keller Williams in Allen as my brokerage because they offered the support and training that I felt a new agent needs. They offer a 3 month program that all new agents attend. They offer one to one coaching and the office staff are very helpful and supportive.

As a company Keller Williams in both national and international . It is a company that caries for it’s employees and agents alike. Many programs are in place to assist in times of trouble, for example when storms hit areas and destroy property, KW helps the local agents financially via internal programs.

They also regularly sponsor community events to help local charities.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
If you think you have enough money in the bank, you are probably wrong.

Be sure you have a support team that is there when you need them.

Don’t give up! Persistence and consistency are key.
